    Not ignorant about illegal aliens

In a recent letter to the editor Mr. Rigoberto Fernandez tells us that people who disagree with illegal immigration are ignorant. I would encourage Mr. Fernandez to read again his letter and then decide who is the ignorant and who is the one with the very subjective view on the issue. And before he starts calling me racist I must mention that I am Hispanic and a legal resident of this country.

In his letter Mr. Fernandez says that people who come here illegally do so to work on jobs that Americans won’t take. First of all, most illegal immigrants these days do not come here to pick up fruit or vegetables anymore. Those jobs are all taken. New illegal immigrants come to do restaurant work, yard work and construction work. Americans do take those jobs. I lived in Ohio and Indiana and all those jobs were done by Americans, so his assumption is incorrect. The reason most of those jobs in California are taken by illegals is because of the pay rate. No American would work for the amount of money illegals work for. But that is a different issue: borderline slavery. And people who employ those illegals are also breaking the law. I think most Americans would be OK paying a little more for food and construction if laws against illegal immigration would be enforced.

He also mentions that immigrants contribute to taxes. He needs to read all the studies done on the subject. Even with the little taxes they pay illegals still cost the state $10 billion a year.

Mr. Fernandez also mentions that these people come here because they need to feed their families and that most people would break the law in order to do the same. Are you serious? I have a tight budget and a family of four. Robbing a bank or stealing cars would bring more money to my household and would enhance my family’s economic situation. Should I do it? Mr. Fernandez’s views are promoting anarchy and uncivilized behavior. In this country we don’t break laws in order to provide for our families. If you do that you go to jail. And yes, falsifying documents, stealing identities, crossing the border without documents and taking jobs without proper papers are, in fact, criminal behavior regardless of your motivation.

It is interesting to me that most minority group leaders and pro-illegal immigration people call the rest of us ignorant and racist when we disagree with them. That is a very easy way out and allows them to avoid discussing the issues in detail.

It is amazing to me how many times this subject comes up and how many times peoples’ ignorance is shown through with full colors. Peggy Roberts wants to “educate the people about immigrants and yet is not educated herself. It is kind of contradictory don’t you think? Until one is placed in the situation one will not understand why these illegal

immigrants are here. All the people that wrote about this letter to the editor are completely crass. They do not realize the impact that these illegal immigrants have on this country. Yes it is true that they might take up the jobs of Americans but these are unwanted jobs by Americans. When have you seen an American in the fruit picking fields or doing landscaping or other labor-intensive tasks? If they are seen they are in small quantities and are a rare sight, so I recommend that you take a picture. Americans do you like your car washed, your good meals, your fresh fruit and vegetables or a nice house? . If so, look back at the people who cooked it, picked it, or built it. Among those workers there was probably more than one illegal immigrant working to do those tasks. Mr. Jason Mrocheck claims they take advantage of the taxes but fails to mention

that many of these people also contribute to the taxes and social security. Yes, they falsify documents or sometimes even take real documents and make them their own. How that happens not even I know, but I know it happens.

Now what happens with the taxes that they are contributing to the economy? Nothing. They are never going to reap the benefits from social security

because there is no way for them to claim it. All these illegal immigrants are here with one goal in mind and that is to prosper. Think back people, why did your kin come to this country? Is it not the same? If the Native Americans had had migratory laws I am pretty sure most of you guys would not have thought twice about breaking them. A few generations go by and you forget why it is that your ancestors came here. If you had to break a few laws to find work to give your family a chance of surviving would you not break them?

    All illegal aliens criminals?

I just read an article in the Press Enterprise of Temecula, CA, that stated, “Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Vista, has been critical of the Border Patrol’s current mission at the checkpoint. He wants the agency’s primary objective to be cracking down on smugglers and criminal aliens, rather than screening traffic for illegal aliens at the checkpoint.

It’s a common misstatement that I see far too often: politicians, the media and the open-borders lobbyists are trying to make a distinction between violent illegal aliens and non-violent illegal aliens by calling the former criminal. This leads the public to believe that the latter is not a criminal. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

It should be obvious by the government-sanctioned name for these people, “illegal alien, that they have committed a crime just by coming to our country. They are, indeed, criminals; all of them.

Therefore, let’s start using the proper terminology when we refer to them to avoid confusion. They are not “undocumented immigrants, they are illegal aliens. If you wish to refer to the violent ones, why not say “violent illegal aliens to distinguish them? That way, you have accurately named for all to understand which subset of illegal aliens you are referring to.

Furthermore, I strongly oppose only going after the violent illegal aliens. It lets the non-violent ones off the hook. We all remember the effectiveness a handful of federal agents had in June of 2004 when in 12 days they apprehended hundreds of illegal aliens. We can even go further back in history. How about President Eisenhower’s “Operation Wetback in which 700 agents rounded up 1.3 million illegal aliens in four months without the aid of any sophisticated equipment or computers?

Let’s allow our Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents to turn loose two 12-man teams on the interior of the Southwest United States. That way, in the worst case, we will make it extremely hard for illegal aliens to live in the United States and make others think twice about coming here because we are actually enforcing our laws. In the best case, we could make significant progress in clearing the interior of our country of criminals who are a constant drain on our tax treasuries, our patience and our way of life.

I was displaced from my home in Southern California when the illegal aliens in the area decided I was a narcotics officer. The police said they really could not protect me so it would be better if I moved. And I did â€â€
