William please explain how 70% of early state GOP voters want Trump to tone down imm?

William, you sent us an alert saying Trump’s tough stand on immigration will win him the election. Yet below the article says how early state Republicans want him to tone down his immigration rhetoric. So which is it??

GOP insiders to Trump: Enough already

Trump may have the whole Republican field talking about immigration, but early-state insiders wish he would just stop.

Seven in 10 Republicans said they’ve heard more than enough about Trump’s plan, which includes a controversial call to end birthright citizenship, according to this week’s POLITICO Caucus, our weekly bipartisan survey of the top operatives, activists and strategists in Iowa and New Hampshire.

    Story Continued Below

Trump’s plan calls for an end to policy that guarantees citizenship for children born in the United States to illegal immigrants. That’s one of several controversial provisions under Trump’s plan, which is particularly galling to New Hampshire GOP insiders — 85 percent of whom said the real estate mogul and current GOP front-runner’s immigration plan was harmful to the party.

Nearly two-thirds of Iowa Republicans said the same.

“He’s solidly put an anchor around the neck of our party, and we’ll sink because of it,” an Iowa Republican said of Trump.

“Enough already,” vented another Iowa Republican, who like all participants was granted anonymity in order to speak freely. “This kind of garbage only appeals to the hard core … while alienating the soft middle that we must win in order to take the presidency.”

A Granite State Republican said it was “harmful to the party, the brand and the future of our country. What’s disappointing is the speed in which other candidates follow his lead. He’s forced that to be standard operation.”

Trump’s plan has pushed the issue of birthright citizenship — which is protected by the 14th Amendment of the Constitution — to the fore of the GOP presidential debate. A number of prominent candidates, including Scott Walker and Ted Cruz, have said they support revoking that right for the children of illegal immigrants.

“Amazing how many ad hoc constitutional scholars, I mean activists, now believe this is a good policy,” snarked an Iowa Republican.

The dynamic in the GOP field suggests that the lessons of 2012 — when the GOP performed abysmally among Latino voters but vowed to make concrete improvements by 2016, have already been forgotten — several insiders said.

“Wasn’t the whole “GOP rebrand” effort of the 2012 loss supposed to address this … in the opposite direction?” said a New Hampshire Democrat who, like all participants, answered via an online survey.

Makes you wonder why Trump is doing so well among Latinos in Nevada Could it be that they have the same concerns as other Americans?

It's called a difference of opinion.
There are lots of articles that support either opinion.
You get to pick which ones to believe.

I don't think the "operatives, activists and strategists" have a grip on what's wrong with our country or what or whom is needed to fix it.

In fact, they're probably as much responsible for the disaster we still call the United States as any single group of people in the country.

They're used to being the ones who orchestrate the puppets, create the pawns, pull the strings, dangle the money, but this time, Trump is pretty much putting an end to their importance and impact, because he won't be a puppet, or a pawn, or dance on their strings or chase after their money donors.

Trump just wants votes freely cast so he can do what he thinks should be done to fix the country. Americans, not political "operatives, activists and strategists" will decide in two elections who they want to fix our nation: Primary Election and General Election.

IMO the people running both major parties have long since stopped caring about regular Americans. 'Bamacrats are selling out Americans, to get the votes of those Undocumented Democrats. The Repub leadership is selling out Americans, to give their big money donors the additional surplus labor which will keep wages down and profits up.

Are yall pulling my leg? Seriously? This piece of crap propaganda piece does not even cite any names! It is all anonymous sources that are not supposed to be quoted in articles like that. What a crock!

Ok #1 This is a politico article. You cant believe very much you read about in any Politico article because Politico is a full blown socialist illegal alien invasion supporting propaganda rag.

#2 Beyond that you should even add extra caution anytime a newspaper that leans towards full blown communism tries to tell readers what Republicans GOP candidates should do or how their enemies (the conservatives) feel about candidates or issues. Hell that would be like General Patton asking Rommell what he thinks of his next move on the battlefield before it is made.

#3 this is not a certified and scientific poll, this is Politico talking to all the Jeb Bush, Mitch McConnell, John Boehner kind of suck-up Republicans in the party apparatus. It is no secret that the upper echelons of the GOP have been controlled by the pro amnesty faction in most states and the national offices. Obviously Politico went looking for GOP sources to bash Trump to try to harm Trump and found a lot of Bush types. Hell Carl Rove or any other big establishment operative could have arranged this hit piece article on Trump.

#4 Im sure many Republicans are scared of Trumps freedom on this issue because they themselves are terrified of repercussions repercussions repercussions. People are gravitating to Trump because we are a trapped and beaten people in America today and while many of us are desperate to evade our captors many others are still fully wearing their yokes and chains!

The stronger Trump gets with his rhetoric the more once apathetic people will gravitate to him and energize and the larger his movement gets the more the timid ones will join in.

Right now the Trump Factor has completely upset the apple cart and we are all in all new territory now.

The illegal immigration issue has broken out of containment and they keep throwing everything and the kitchen sink at Trump and he turns it around and comes out stronger each time.

This is one of the worst abuses of journalism Ive ever seen in my life. Not one single real name but all full of angry vitriolic attacks on Trump and every American concerned about illegal immigration.

Exactly. There is no doubt in my mind that it is the Karl Roves, James Carvilles, Mary Matalins of our political system, the so-called "master-minds" and "architects" of this whole disaster we're in. So let the blame fall where it should, on them, their ideas, their plans, their strategies, their operations.

Our candidates need to be running their campaigns, like Trump is doing, because after all, we expect them if elected to run our country.

Because Jeb Bush is supposed to be the republican nominee and establishment types just cannot fathom why Trump is staying up in ALL of the polls, that's why. Because a Bush is the same as a Clinton and either will continue with the destruction of the USA. Thus, articles like these are written for the gullible.

Before Trump entered the race, the people who spoke against illegal aliens did it so politely that they didn't really get people riled up. Since Trump began speaking out against illegals, increasing numbers of Americans have realized that it's OK to support someone who's actually trying to protect Americans interests.
