Wisconsin: Protest at Ryan's office leads to three arrests
Protest at Ryan's office leads to three arrests

The director of Voces de la Frontera and two others were arrested at the Racine office of U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) during a vigil to push for passage of the DREAM Act.
Christine Neumann-Ortiz, director of Voces, a low-wage worker and immigrant advocacy group, along with Voces Racine coordinator Maria Morales and Al Hutton, a Horlick High School guidance counselor, were charged with trespassing after they refused to leave Ryan's office Monday afternoon.
About 100 students and other supporters held the vigil to try to persuade Ryan to support the DREAM Act, a measure that would allow some undocumented students to gain legal status if they attend college or serve in the armed forces. Efforts are under way to pass the measure in the lame duck Congress, but it's also drawing opposition from anti-immigration forces.
Neumann-Ortiz said she and two others chose to be arrested at Ryan's office as an act of civil disobedience. She said they each received tickets for $276.50.
In the past, she said, Ryan had supported the DREAM Act, but he's changed his stand in recent years.
Kevin Seifert, speaking for Ryan, said that the congressman supported an earlier version of the bill, but that he did not support the current DREAM Act legislation because he believes it goes too far.

This now makes me wonder if some of those senate offices that are giving the "hasn't released a statement yet" line are trying to avoid this kind of stuff. This is good in that it might mean they are planning to vote against Dream, but don't want the Dreamers to know it.<div>Number*U.S. military*in S.Korea to protect their border with N.Korea: 28,000.
