'YOU'LL ALL DIE' Berlin terror attack – Islamic extremist injures six – three seriously – in motorway ramming rampage

AN Islamic extremist carried out a series of sick car crashes on a Berlin motorway injuring six, police say.
A 30-year-old Iraqi man exited the vehicle after a series of smashes last night claiming to have a bomb while shouting "nobody comes closer, otherwise you will all die", local media reports.

The Iraqi, who was reportedly suffering from psychological problems, has been named as 'Sarman A' in local media.
It has been reported that the attacker later stopped on the highway and put a box on the roof of his car, claiming it had explosives inside.
According to respected German newspaper Bild, the 30-year-old began shouting "allahu akbar" or "God is great."

It was at this point he reportedly shouted: "Nobody comes closer, otherwise you will all die".
According to Der Tagesspiegel, the attacker then rolled out a prayer mat on the road and knelt down.
Armed police were able to overpower the man and detain him while bomb specialists found only tools in the box.

"According to the current knowledge, it was an Islamist-motivated attack," a prosecutors' spokesman told Focus magazine.
He added that there were also indications that the 30-year-old suspect with an Iraqi citizenship had psychological problems.
Several motorcyclists were targeted in the depraved assault.
One bike user was run over at Detmolder Strasse, near a junction with the A100 motorway, Bild reports.
A scooter driver was also rammed at Innsbrucker Platz, around a mile east along the same road, and had to be revived by paramedics.
And another mile along the motorway, two more motorbike riders were struck at Alboinstrasse.
The crashes at three different locations led to a complete closure of one of the main arteries of Berlin and led to long traffic jams with some 300 people stuck for hours.

All the smashes happened in the south west of the city at around 6.30pm local time last night.
This is not the first time Berliners have been terrorised by Islamic extremists.
In December, 2016, a Tunisian man rammed a truck into a Christmas market in the city killing 12 and injuring 56.

Earlier in the day, authorities in Berlin stated that a city highway was shut down after a series of crashes the previous night that were all caused by one man.
German prosecutors on Wednesday described the incident in which a man caused a series of motorway accidents that left six people injured, as an “Islamist act”.

“Islamist motivation according to our current knowledge”, AFP reported, citing the prosecutors.

Meanwhile, local media outlets have described the perpetrator as a 30-year-old Iraqi who shouted “Allahu Akbar” when getting out of his car during the time of the incident.
The man then put a box on the roof of his car saying that it had explosives inside. Police, however, later said that the box only contained tools.
Three of the victims were injured severely in the incident, while traffic on one of Berlin’s main transport arteries was closed leading to long traffic jams.

On Tuesday there were reports of a strange series of severe crashes on the Berlin autobahn which left multiple people severely injured. While wrecks on the high speed federally controlled highway are not unheard of, it's extremely rare to have a series of wrecks on the same day on the same stretch of autobahn, the famous no speed limit network of roadways which Federal Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer last year called "the safest in the world".
Thus when an accelerating car careened into several motorcycles during the Tuesday evening rush hour, police immediately began investigating them as vehicle ramming attacks. And now law enforcement officials say it increasingly appears part of a premeditated Islamic terror attack.

An office spokesman later told reporters that a 30-year-old Iraqi man was suspected of "in effect hunting down motorcyclists".

"Because of the circumstances we don't see this as a random accident," prosecutor's office spokesman Martin Steltner said. "Latest indications point to an Islamist-motivated attack."
There were three separate crashes on the A100 near the center of the city, with the suspect claiming to be armed with some kind of weapon or explosive, as the BBC reports:

Three people were seriously injured when the suspect's car collided with motorbikes and cars on the A100 motorway shortly before 19:00 (17:00 GMT) on Tuesday evening.
Witnesses said the 30-year-old Iraqi suspect claimed to have a "dangerous object" in a box of ammunition.

The Iraqi man only identified in media reports as Sarmad A may have announced his terror intentions on Facebook shortly before he began mowing down motorcyclists.

After the crashes, the man was said to have placed a metal box on the road. According to sources quoted by the Tagesspiegel website, he shouted "Allahu Akbar" (God is greatest) and "Nobody come closer or else you'll die."
Named by German media as Samrad A, the suspect lives in refugee accommodation and reports suggest he may have been radicalised there. He is expected to face three charges of attempted murder.
Before the attack, the suspect posted pictures of his car on Facebook, along with religious phrases.
