Yuma Sector Agents Apprehend Multiple Illegal Aliens in Two Smuggling Events

YUMA, Ariz. – Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents apprehended multiple illegal aliens from Mexico and arrested multiple U.S. citizens during two failed human smuggling attempts.
Wednesday afternoon, Wellton Station agents operating in Dome Valley identified a Ford F-150 attempting to circumvent the immigration checkpoint on Interstate 8.
During the encounter, agents determined that the three passengers in the vehicle were illegal aliens from Mexico. The driver, a 29-year-old U.S. citizen, was arrested for human smuggling.
The second incident occurred later that day Wellton Station agents working at the immigration checkpoint on Interstate 8 encountered a Nissan Altima with four occupants. During a secondary inspection, agents determined the driver and front seat passenger were U.S. citizens and the two rear seat passengers were illegal aliens from Mexico. Both U.S. citizens were arrested for human smuggling.
