My Mom never felt generic drugs were as good as the original brand name ones.

Generic medications are pushed because of a cheaper price and have different inert ingredients--perhaps health-wise we pay a greater price for generic drugs.

My dr says that we can react differently to them. One of my meds says do not supply generic. I can't take the generic Allegra. The others are generic. Walmart has that $4 for 1 month supply of anything generic, well they have 300 types.
    $12 bucks for 3 months ain't bad!

I have never thought generic drugs work as good as the real ones. They have to make them cheaper somehow, and I thinks alot of it has to do with the fillers they use. I think some fillers slow down the absorbtion of some drugs.

I thought it was having the Patent that made them cost so much?

Beats me about the patent thing. There I go making "blanket statements" again.

All I know is that I have taken Synthroid for almost 40 years. I was told by my doctor that the generic form of Synthroid did not absorb as well. And I have also read studies on the same drug and they all came to the same conclusion - that the generic form of Synthroid was inferior. So, thats why I am guessing that it the generic drug itself is not as potent or it has fillers that make the drug not absorb as well as it should.
