Report From BOND Meeting, Terry Anderson and Lupe Moreno
Brotherhood Organization of New Destiny - BOND
BOND TOWNHALL MEETING
July 28, 2005
The three heroes - David Hernandez, Lupe Moreno, Terry Anderson
The BOND Townhall meeting, held at the BOND meeting center in South Central L.A., focused on the impact of illegal immigration on the community.
It was like an immigration reform revival meeting! It was a standing-room-only, highly energized crowd. Heckling and outbursts were nonstop.
ro-illegal immigration panelists - LA Unified Superintendent Richard Alonzo, Aaron Carter, Hope Community Church and LA City Councilman Bernard Parks
The three open border panelists made preposterous statements. Convoluted. Obtuse. Even ridiculous.
For example, Aaron Carter (second from the left in above photo) when asked about the social service drain of illegals, said, "It is a myth illegal immigrants use (more) social programs. The main users of welfare are white women."
So Aaron Carter's response to the local social service drain of illegal immigration - white women. She was heckled soundly for the comment.
Aaron Carter also stated that there are no longer "majorities" in the community. She said "coalition building not division" is the answer. What is a coalition to Aaron Carter? It was vague, feel-good rhetoric.
Empty chair
A LULAC representative was to have been on the panel. Above is his empty chair. His name was on folded paper in front of the empty chair.
Rev Jesse Lee Peterson
Rev Jesse Lee Peterson was the mastermind behind the townhall meeting.
Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson was a lively and masterful emcee. He had go to the microphone frequently, as in the photo above, attempting to placate the raucous audience. He would calm the audience.
But then Bernard Parks would say something like - illegal immigration is all around us. There is nothing we can do to stop it, so we have to deal with it.
And the audience would erupt again. The audience was a majority of blacks, so they were always the loudest voices!
Lupe Moreno being interviewed by reporter
Our panelists were awesome! They were clear and well-spoken - because they unabashedly stated the truth.
Lupe stated how her Orange County neighborhood changed into a majority illegal community - which woke her up.
She firmly stated she is an American. She wore her US Border Patrol hat. Nice touch.
Terry Anderson would just slam statements panelists like Parks said. When Parks said illegal immigration is a federal issue, Terry Anderson contradicted him in a rage - enforcement starts at the local level.
Terry Anderson and Lupe were applauded; Bernard Parks was booed
The audience lined up to ask questions
Rev Peterson opened up the townhall meeting to audience questions.
Audience members literally stampeded to the microphone.
Above, in the photo the first question was from a woman who works in the school district. She asked for an accounting of money spent in the budget on special textbooks, etc for illegal immigrants.
The arrogant Superintendent Alonzo said there was no way to make that assessment. The school district does not keep records on whether a student is illegally in the U.S.
Rabbi who asked question
The above man is a Rabbi who taught in the LA Unified School District. He asked the question of Superintendent Alonzo as to why he was transferred to another school when he complained about being threatened by illegal immigrant students.
The Rabbi went into detail about his treatment by LA Unified School District.
He then asked the Superintendent Alonzo why he was treated this way by LA Unified.
Alonzo replied, "Maybe you were a bad teacher."
The answer was so shocking - the entire audience gasped. Then basically heckled Alonzo. Alonzo remained arrogant and stone faced.
he above young woman asked the open border panelists why in her community homes are being sold to Latinos but Blacks are being excluded from the local housing market.
The panelists simply replied that it's not happening. Terry Anderson refuted the open border panelist
The above young woman declared herself to be a liberal.
I think we all were prepared for her to be an open borders activist. But she proceeded to verbally attack the pro-illegal immigrant panelists. Stating they were defending lawbreakers.
She then turned to Parks. And she said, "Chief Parks, I have a question. Which laws can I break?'
Her statement nearly brought the rafters down with applause and general raucousness from the audience.
After the townhall meeting, the audience stayed and talked to panelists.
What a great evening! It was a blast. The open borders crowd got a taste of the "popular rage" as Terry Anderson puts it.
