    Bills that need action now

The Security Through Regularized Immigration and a Vibrant Economy, or STRIVE, Act of 2007 (H.R. 1645), would sell out the interests of virtually all citizens in your state (of all ethnicities). NO

Mexican Truckers Resolutions: History Demand Mexican Truckers Be Stopped as per resolutions passed in the House and Senate !

H.R. 1773 DeFazio Amendment: In May, the House voted overwhelmingly, 411-3, to pass H.R. 1773, the Safe American Roads Act of 2007, legislation which would extend the pilot program to three years and ensure that DOT establishes a process to analyze the impact of allowing Mexican trucks on our nation's roadways, before the border is completely opened. Provisions were also included in the FY 2007 Iraq War Supplemental spending bill to impose strict measures to ensure that the pilot program adheres to safety and security guidelines and that its progress is assessed by an independent panel.

July 2007 Hunter Amendment: U.S. Congressman Duncan Hunter (R-CA) joined several of his colleagues in successfully offering an amendment to H.R. 3074, the FY2008 Department of Transportation (DoT) Appropriations Act, prohibiting the use of federal funds for implementing the cross-border demonstration project. The amendment specifically stops the effort to provide Mexican truckers unrestricted access to U.S. roadways from proceeding.

Despite receiving clear direction from Congress (P.L. 110-2, DoT has decided to move forward with its cross-border trucking program, said Congressman Hunter. While I believe this program is dangerous and should be abandoned altogether, it is critically important that, if allowed to proceed, Mexican truckers are held to the same safety and security requirements as their American counterparts. Included in P.L. 110-28, were provisions from H.R. 1773, the Safe Americans Roads Act of 2007, which passed the House overwhelmingly by a vote of 411-3. Both bills included strict measures to ensure the cross-border trucking program, created under NAFTA, would be compliant with American immigration and traffic laws.

    when they will come up

We don't know when these bills will come up, sometime in this session. We just need to be on our toes, and start calling now. The Dorgan amendment was passed today, voting down Mexican truckers pilot program. Get on the phone to the white house and demand the prez sign this bill.
