77% Say Immigrants Should Assimilate, Adpot Our Culture

    77% Say Adopting U.S. Culture
    Best Choice for Newcomers

    Friday, June 06, 2008

A sizable majority of likely U.S. voters (77%) believe that people who come
to America should adopt this country's culture, according to a new Rasmussen
    Reports national telephone survey.

While critics of this view often complain that it is discriminatory, 61% of
those polled believe the United States is a "fair and decent" country, while
25% view it as "unfair and discriminatory" and 15% are unsure.

Only 11% think newcomers to America should maintain the cultures of their
home countries, while 13% are undecided.

These figures parallel findings in Rasmussen Reports surveys over the past
    couple months.

In the latest survey, 78% of both black and white voters believe that new
residents here should adopt U.S. culture, a position shared mostly strongly
by those 50 and older (83%). Eighty-nine percent (89%) of Republicans and
71% of Democrats agree, roughly equal to the views of self-designated
    conservatives (89%) and liberals (68%).

Even 64% of social liberals believe new Americans should adopt this
    country's ways.

Those perhaps most likely to feel the economic squeeze of newcomers in the
workforce -- with incomes of less than $20,000 per year -- strongly support
cultural assimilation, with 83% for, nine percent against and eight percent
    not sure.

The new poll also continues to reflect the racial divide in this country
over issues of fairness. Forty-five (45%) of black respondents say that
America is generally unfair and discriminatory, a view shared by only 20% of
whites. By contrast, 66% of whites think America is a fair and decent
country as opposed to 39% of blacks.

Only marginally different from recent Rasmussen Reports surveys, 42% of
voters believe America's best days are in the past, while 39% say the best
is yet to come and 19% are not sure.

Last month, nearly half of voters (47%) felt America's best days
have come and gone, and 39% believed those days are in the future.

Also similar to previous findings, voters in the new survey prefer fewer
services and lower taxes (64%) to more services and higher taxes (24%), an
issue that is sure to be central to the upcoming presidential contest.
Republican presidential contender John McCain has repeatedly touted his
fiscal conservatism, while Democratic hopeful Barack Obama has outlined
several expanded government initiatives including one to provide more health
    care coverage to low-income Americans.

A recent Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 51% of voters
believe that their taxes will go up if Obama is elected. Thirty-three percent (33%)
believe their taxes will go up if McCain is elected.

PART OF THE HEALTH CARE CRISIS IS BEING CAUSED BY DEPRESSED WAGES. IF WORKERS GOT PAID A DECENT WAGE MANY OF THEM WOULD BE ABLE TO AFFORD AT LEAST BASIC HEALTH CARE.

this is another good poll we need for the homepage.

Unfortunately, I think our support has slipped a few percent points. While we are still looking very strong at polls that show 77% for our issues, we have slipped a few down from 80-81% support.

Nothing more than a summer lull. All it will take will another notorious illegal alien crime spree and/or some more expose of the Obamamamma/McCrazy mad rush to pander the most and perhaps another illegal alien mass demonstration to get the numbers back up.
