[WATCH] Teens Cooking Up New DEADLY DRUG Does Not End Well

A new homemade drug has hit the teen scene that they’re making at home –“Dirty Sprite.”
The deadly concoction of lemon-lime soda, candy, and whatever prescription drugs they can find, are all mixed together in a beverage that is highly addictive, reports North Carolina NBC affiliate WECT.

The drugged up beverage, also referred to as “lean,” has become especially prevalent in North Carolina where one third of kids screened at the state’s rehab facility, Coastal Horizons, said they had guzzled it to get high, according to the center’s Prevention Director, Deeanna Hale Holland.
Dirty Sprite is the sister elixir to “Drank” which is a mix of purple codeine and promethazine cough syrup mixed with soda, like 7-Up or Sprite, and made headlines when slain teen Trayvon Martin was suspected to have been on the beverage.
Holland suggested parents should speak with their children about the dangers of Dirty Sprite.
“Ask them about their friends and what they’ve heard. Make sure that you restate your family’s values on alcohol and other drugs,” Holland said.
Since the drink is being made at home right under the noses of parents, one way adults can make it more difficult for teens to obtain would be to be sure to dispose of unused prescription medications.
Good parenting goes a long way in preventing problems. Adults and teens alike need to be aware of the dangers this beverage poses and that prescription drugs are highly addictive and deadly.

[Photos] Pretty Teen UNRECOGNIZABLE After Taking Popular Drug, Near Death

The “Ecstasy” drug has reigned in popularity among teens and young adults in the rave scene for several years, but now it’s left a Colorado girl clinging to life and almost unrecognizable.
The victim’s father has shared these powerful images with Mad World News in hopes of sending an important message about the dangers of this party drug along with the dangerous conditions within most rave venues.
Bianca Garten, 17, took a dose from a bad batch of the MDMA drug, also known as “Molly,” last week at a rave event and has been in critical condition ever since, The Denver Channel reported. The teen had to be resuscitated twice in the hospital.

The victim’s father, Keith Roehm, told the news station that for one 20 minute stretch, her temperature was at 108 degrees and her heartbeat was at 165 bpm and her family feared the worst.
Roehm told the news source that he heard there was “a bad batch of this stuff going around” and noted there are several other people in the Denver area who were also hospitalized after taking the drug in recent weeks.
“Three days ago my wife and I thought she was going to die,” Roehm told the Denver Channel. “To see her like that is absolutely horrifying. And I wouldn’t wish this on anybody.”
Roehm said in a phone interview with Mad World News that the rave venue his daughter attended was oversold and overcrowded. Nearly 1500 event goers were crammed into the arena that comfortable holds a few hundred less than that, according to Roehm. To make matters worse, water was in very short supply and with the high heat and packed circumstances, long lines formed of partiers trying to get the last drop, many were left without.
At $80 per ticket, it leaves one to wonder if overselling the event — despite the obvious safety hazards of crowding — was financially motivated.
Garten’s distressed father also wonders why minors are permitted to attend raves in the first place, considering the dangerous drug environment it cultivates and suggested it should be the law that attendees must be over 21-years-old.
In a post to his Facebook wall, Roehn wrote on the matter:
“It could be your teenaged son or daughter next,” he says. “Don’t fool yourself! My daughter got good grades in school, had a job she attended every day after school, and she did her homework afterwards. She was responsible.”
Hopefully, these photos serve as a reminder that drugs are not fun, it’s not a party to take them, and the dangers are all too real. Pictures have the power to say much more than words, and Bianca’s photos could save a life from a path of despair.

While Bianca’s condition has improved, she is a long way from the girl she was prior to the incident, as seen in the photo below – a stark contrast to the ones above. The prayers of the Mad World News team are with her and her family. It is our hope and the hope of her father that Bianca’s story could save others from the disastrous outcome caused by drug use. Please share her story to bring those hopes to fruition.

There has been a GoFundMe page set up to raise money for the family.
