Four dead after weekend shootings in Memphis, according to police

Four people died after shootings that took place Friday and Saturday in Memphis, according to the Memphis Police Department.

Here is the information police provided following the shootings.

Saturday: 2 dead after shootings in southeast, east Memphis

A man and woman died after separate Saturday shootings, Memphis police said.
Early Saturday morning in east Memphis, a caller told police 15 people were fighting when one man was shot. The victim was taken from the scene at 898 S. Highland St. to Regional One hospital, police said.
At 7:41 a.m., four hours later, police said the man had died.
No suspect information was provided.
Saturday afternoon, police responded to a shooting at southeast Memphis in the 1600 block of Ellsworth Street.
Police were told that a woman was shot by a neighbor, who fled. The woman died at the scene, police said.


On Sunday, the Memphis Police Department said James Turner was arrested and charged with first degree murder in the case.
Two dead, three injured in Friday shootings

Around 2:30 p.m. Friday, Memphis police responded to a shooting in Whitehaven.
Three people were shot, MPD said. One had died by the time police arrived at the scene. Two others were in critical condition.


The shooter or shooters fled the scene in a white SUV. No additional suspect information was provided.

At 5:30 p.m., police responded to a shooting at Peres Avenue and North Merton Street in North Memphis. A man was taken to Regional One in critical condition, police said.
The suspect was last seen driving westbound on Peres Avenue in a tan or brown Chevrolet Suburban, police said.

At 7:20 p.m., Shelby County Sheriff's deputies responded to a shooting in Northaven at Northaven Drive and Breckenwood Drive. One person taken from the scene by a private vehicle died, SCSO said.
SCSO said it is searching for people in a black Nissan Altima in connection with the shooting.
