A 4.3-magnitude earthquake rattled southern Utah on Wednesday evening, but there were no reports of damage, just a nighttime surprise.
The University of Utah seismograph station reported the quake around 9:30 p.m., near Bryce Canyon.
The epicenter was 18 miles from Panguitch, 13 miles from Tropic and 129 miles from Mesquite, Nev.
The quake — which was about a half-mile deep — was felt around southern Utah and in northern Arizona.
A number of people felt the quake and reported it online and to dispatchers in Garfield and Kane counties. Those reporting the quake classified it as weak to light shaking
