A high-speed pursuit through downtown Los Angeles has ended with a standoff with an armed suspect on the roof in the San Fernando Valley.

A chase approaching 100 miles an hour ended with the man leaving his vehicle and climbing onto one of several roofs, where he holed up for some time while clutching an assault rifle. He eventually climbed down from the roof.
The neighborhood is on lockdown.
