Jan 02, 2009 (Albuquerque Journal - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- WFC | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- The Federal Bureau of Investigation is reporting what appears to be Albuquerque's first bank robbery of the year that took place around 11 this morning at the Wells Fargo branch inside the Albertson's Supermarket at 13150 Central SE, according to an FBI news release.
The suspect is in his early to mid 20s, 5 feet 8 inches tall, approximately 150 pounds and was wearing a black felt hat and a black leather jacket, the release said.

Authorities believe the suspect has participated in other robberies in the metro area within the past month, according to the FBI.

The FBI reported that bank robberies had doubled in Albuquerque from 2007 to 2008 and more than doubled throughout New Mexico, according to earlier reports.
