After an Increase in Gun Laws, Los Angeles Sees a Change in Violent Crime

The violent crime rate in Los Angeles is seeing some changes after an onslaught of new gun laws, but it’s not the change the gun grabbers like to promise. The liberal left would have us believe more gun laws on the books will give us a Utopian world, where the streets would be safe and the criminal element would just melt away. It sounds amazing, but us logical people know that is not the case. Unfortunately, statistics are proving us right once again.
In L.A. crime is on the rise, even though during the last 18 months there has been the passage of several new gun control laws at the state and city level.
According to Breitbart, here are some of the new laws passed:On May 4, 2013, the Huffington Post reported that the LA City Council voted to ban the possession of “high capacity” magazines within city limits. On February 23, 2014, the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that restrictions on concealed carry had to be eased, the LA County Sheriffs Department did not comply. And on July 2 of this year, Breitbart News reported that the LA City Council supported the push to ban “single shot” handguns, a ban which was implemented on the state level.
In addition to the city-level laws, on October 11, 2013 Breitbart News reported that California Governor Jerry Brown (D) signed laws banning lead ammo, expanding criminal firearm storage rules, requiring safety certificates for owners of long guns, and expanding background checks, among other things.
With all that has been done to ‘make the streets safer’ in the City of Angels, crime is instead on the rise. The numbers speak for themselves with LA’s overall violent crime rate up 7.6% thus far this year compared with 2013. Aggravated assaults have jumped nearly 20%, and rapes are also up 7%. Ironically, aggravated assaults, which have increased the most, are typically characterized by the use of “weapons.” Therefore, it’s safe to say crimes involving weapons are driving violent crime rates higher in the wake of a new gun control laws.
This leaves us with something else to ponder. With all this being said and the statistics showing that these stricter gun laws are not working, what other agenda could there be but to disarm the American people? Give us your input in the comments!
