AMERICA REDUCED TO THIRD WORLD STATUS

World history is spotted with stories of political conquests: Attila the Hun, Genghis Khan, the Pharaohs, Alexander the Great, and Roman Caesars, each who seized physical control of a country, its economy and assets. History holds no story of a take over based solely on a country’s assets, until now. The modern day Attila’s, Genghis Khan’s, Pharaoh’s, and Caesar’s are the men who own and control the Central Banks of the world. America’s Central Bank is the Federal Reserve, which controls our monetary system, is not part of our governmental system, and, although its name would imply, it has no reserves.

The 13th month of America’s credit crisis may hold its own in history as a country whose economic power and bulk of wealth overnight become the assets of the Federal Reserve. This may well be the finest coup d’état.

For more than a week the news media has been a buzz, clamoring for the need to change our regulatory system. The passage, by Congress, of “The Treasury Blueprint for a Modernized Financial Regulatory System,â€

It is time to hit our knees and repent for our own sins and ask God to save us.

The article misrepresents the average household back then. Many people WERE deeply in debt. If your breadwinner lost his job, the ordinary bills suddenly became debts you couldn't pay. Mortgages back then typically had a balloon payment at the end. Also, most people rented. Being on a farm with multi generations wouldn't save you, especially if you were a sharecropper (renting the farm, see Grapes of Wrath). There was a record multi year heat wave and drought throughout the 30s in the midwest. That brought the Dust Bowl. During the roaring 20s people had bought a lot of merchandise on installment payments; warehouses filled with repo'ed goods in the depression. The collapse of cotton prices after WWI brought many rural southerners into cities in the 20s. The boll weevil didn't help either. I agree that we have a long row to hoe and are in danger, but I also think that we are not necessarily any worse off than the common man back in the 30s. Note that this is not a good place to be!
