Two brothers face theft charges after anonymous tip

The border crime wave continues with the media covering up for illegals by refusing to identify them as foreign nationals since they now have "DREAMER" status.

Police identified the 25-year-old man who was caught on video stealing five flat screen televisions from a Wal-Mart in Mission on Sunday night.

Ramiro Javier Saldivar and his younger brother, Dominic Javier Saldivar, 19, were arrested Tuesday afternoon after an anonymous tip led Mission police to an apartment complex in McAllen, where the brothers were arrested without incident, Mission police spokesman Sgt. Ted Rodriguez said.

Rodriguez said Ramiro and Dominic, who are facing multiple counts of theft, are accused of stealing several high-end items from different retailers in Edinburg and Mission, including a Wal-Mart Supercenter and H-E-B Plus.

Surveillance video released Monday shows the burglar place three shopping carts with the televisions in the Wal-Mart’s outdoor gardening center and exiting through the front entrance of the store, located on Expressway 83 and Shary Road. The man later returns, breaking into the gardening center by cutting its chain-link fence with wire cutters.

Rodriguez said both men could possibly face charges with other law enforcement agencies.

The Saldivar brothers are expected to be formally arraigned Thursday afternoon.

If convicted of the theft charges, a third-degree felony, both men face between two and 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Police arrested two brothers after one of the men’s girlfriend claimed he threatened to call her probation officer if she did not have sex with him, authorities say.

Jacob Paul Villanueva, 29, is accused of sexually assaulting his girlfriend after an argument, causing her to lock herself in the bathroom of his apartment and call 9-1-1, police spokesman Lt. Oscar Treviño said.

The victim informed police that Villanueva told her that he was going to call her probation officer to say that she had been going out to bars and drinking if she did not have sex with him, Treviño said.

Scared that Villanueva would follow through with the threat, the woman said she performed a sex act on him and had unprotected sex with him. But the victim said that Villanueva became upset when he was unable to ejaculate, so she decided to lock herself in his bathroom and call police, according to a criminal complaint.

When officers arrived, they searched the apartment and found a slew of drugs, including .02 grams of methamphetamine, 3.5 ounces of synthetic marijuana, 2.3 grams of Xanax bars, more than 3.8 grams of cocaine, and 10.5 pounds of marijuana, the complaint states.

The victim also told police that Villanueva and his younger brother, Caleb, sold drugs from the apartment.

The brothers went in front of a municipal judge Tuesday. Jacob had his bond set at $210,000 on charges of aggravated sexual assault and possession of a controlled substance. Caleb, 21, had bond set at $160,000 and faces a similar drug charge.
