If Obama Is Really So Far Ahead, Why Does ACORN Have to Cheat?

RUSH: Look at this headline, from The Politico, a story by David Paul Kuhn: "Democrat Strategists See Landslide in the Making." A couple of Democrat strategerists, Doug Schoen and Democrat strategerists Paul Maslin, "It's going to be a landslide." The only thing that can stop the Obama landslide is a terrorist attack, and they say that the economic tsunami has done for Obama what he could not do for himself, and that's pull himself across the finish line. So yet another story today about how the election is over. John Zogby, by the way, says, (paraphrasing) "Hey, don't pronounce this race over. This race is still anybody's race. It's too close to call." His daily tracking poll today has Obama up four. I got an e-mail note last night from a friend. Said, "Rush, I know that you do and say and accomplish a lot, and I know that it's very difficult for you to remember all of your great achievements and accomplishments, and I know that, Rush, because you're always facing the future, you're always rooted in the now looking forward, you don't look back." And that's true. That's why I have staff to remember things that I have said and done. But the staff failed me on this one. Now get this. This is fascinating. All this weighting in the polls favoring Democrats, depending on the poll and depending on the time the poll is taken, the pollsters will inflate the number of Democrats in the poll. This guy says, "Don't you remember how many Republicans you convinced to register Democrat during Operation Chaos? And how many of them are still registered Democrat, and how many of them might be getting calls from pollsters on that basis?" It's an interesting thought.

Other fluctuations are going on in the polling data. I tell you, all of this cheating that is now taking place, this ACORN stuff, they're catching them all over the country, and there's a rumor -- I shouldn't spread this, but there's something that happened. You know these online betting sites where you can buy stock in the outcome of a sports contest or an event such as a presidential election? Last night somebody bet big on Obama to lose, in about a 20 minute period, his stock was at about 70 to 74, and it went down to the low sixties within a 20-minute period before it rebounded. Somebody was shorting Obama. This came on the heels of a rumor circuiting -- not my rumor; it's out there that the US attorney's office in Chicago is looking into a RICO investigation of ACORN and the Obama campaign. RICO is the racketeering legislation, or statute. Now, right now it is just a rumor, and I haven't seen any more about it since late last night, early this morning. I'm not drawing any correlation between what happened on this Intrade site with this rumor. But all of the cheating that's going on, the fundraising, $4 million has been raised by people that nobody can identify because Obama found a little loophole out there in McCain-Feingold that if you contribute less than $200 bucks, you don't have to mention your name. People are donating from all over the world, apparently, and there are people like Goodwill or Dogood, whatever, multiple places. They also found now the Dallas Cowboys roster registered to vote by ACORN in Missouri as well as Nevada. Cleveland, Cuyahoga County looking into this, Indianapolis, 105% of the population of Indianapolis is registered to vote.

Now, if this election is such a slam-dunk, why do these people have to cheat? Why do they have to cheat? Don't tell me it's because they think they have been cheated out of the last two presidential elections because they've been cheating and fraudulently registering voters and failing to purge voter registration rolls all over the country for the longest time. It's a scandal in the making and if there's no federal investigation right now into it, there ought to be. There damn well ought to be. It's now widely known all over the place. And guess what? The Messiah, the Most Merciful Lord Barack Obama is now denying that he ever had anything to do with ACORN. Stanley Kurtz doing yeoman's work at National Review: "Obama-ACORN Cover-up?" It's a long piece. I'm not going to read it to you because I don't have to. What backs it up is proof enough: "Barack Obama now apparently denying his ties with ACORN." And, of course, you would expect him to try to deny his ties with ACORN with his filthy and his corrupt as this bunch of leftist radicals is, of course he wants to cover up any relationship to them.

Kurtz at National Review Online in a post last night has quite a few details and citations. But we found a quote from Obama himself in a speech that he gave to ACORN in November of 2007. In that speech, he said, "I've been fighting alongside ACORN on issues you care about my entire career. Even before I was an elected official, when I ran Project Vote voter registration drive in Illinois, ACORN was smack dab in the middle of it, and we appreciate your work." So he's running for the hills from Bill Ayers. He's running for the hills now from ACORN. He's running for the hills from a lot of things that are occurring in the campaign.
