Bayh advises Americans to vote out all incumbents

Bayh advises Americans to vote out all incumbents

February 18, 11:49 AMSt. Louis Conservative ExaminerAndrea Simoncic

In a move more shocking than his announcement that he is leaving the Senate, Senator Evan Bayh astounded his pronouncement that Americans should vote all incumbents out of political office. While many speculated that Bayh's decision to leave the Senate had its roots in self-preservation, due to a purported knowledge that he knew he could not be re-elected, Senator Bayh himself negated such speculation with his own reasons for retirement. Congress, the 54 year old Senator insisted, places no value on helping the American people.

"There's just too much brain-dead partisanship," Bayh admitted during a nationally broadcast interview on Tuesday. He predicted that Americans' feelings of hostility toward Congress will never cease "until we change this town." Bayh also noted that "the extremes of both parties have to be willing to accept compromises."

Despite such statements, however, many Americans remained suspicious of Bayh's true reasons for leaving the Senate. When asked about his future political aspirations in regard to the presidency, Bayh denied that he had any. "[I have n]one, whatsoever," he told reporters.

Senator Bayh's intentions appear to be genuine, if his recent advice to the American public is any indication. Americans need to administer a "shock" to Congress by voting incumbents out en masse and replacing them with people interested in reforming politics and governing in the interests of the people they represent, rather than special interest groups or a particular political agenda.

But will the American people listen to Senator Bayh and take his message to heart? Will voting out all political incumbents result in the fresh start that Americans desire, or will it result in more of the same dirty politics with power drunk politicians ignoring the wishes of the American people?

The answer is in our behavior. If we, as Americans, vote blindly, according to party lines or superficial things, we will get more of the same as we have now. Do not fall for this trap.

Research, compare, and repeat. Then vote according to your own principles, character, and set of morals or ethics. It is the only way we can enact any change in this country, whether we vote out all incumbents or not.

    So unbelievably refreshing.............

I hope, and pray that people will finally listen and do something other than the usual thing.

Oh please!! Bush and co were the biggest idiots to ever hit our political scene, yet they were elected....TWICE!!

I listen to 570 KLIF, which is a talk radio station in Dallas. They have this whole campaign to vote out incumbents. What they aren't telling you is that you are supposed to ONLY vote out DEMOCRAT incumbents. They like RHINO's like McCain and Cornyn. Republicans, like Cornyn, Graham, and McCain are GOOD for the country.

Personally, I say vote for the person that fits your ideals, regardless of political affiliation. That's why our country is screwed!! We have way too many people that vote party lines, no matter if the person in question has the voters beliefs in mind. How do you think Perry and Hutchison have been in office so long? How do you think healthcare reform will ever pass while the neo-con's that refute reform can't get the medical treatment they need? They SAY they represent us, but they truly don't. Yet every election cycle, AFTER they have shown that they only care about lobbyists and campaign contributions, they pull the same strings that they accuse others of pulling. They STILL get elected. Personally, I blame Texas "conservatives" that doesn't know what conservative means. Reagan was the FIRST non-conservative republican, yet people flocked to him in droves. He is responsible for the illegal aliens in this country. In 1984, Mondale made the most sense, and actually told people the truth, but because him and Ferraro believed in Gay rights, they were pounded. Look at where we are today! The inability to give gays the same rights as a human being in the 80's (which is why many people voted for Regan) is akin to the the ignorance that whites felt against blacks for so many years. As long as neo-cons have a group to discriminate against, the happier they are, NO MATTER what the constitution says about freedom and liberty.

The difference between a progressive and a neo-con? A progressive (like myself) SEEKS opposing points of view so I can balance my perspective. A neo-con REFUSES other points of view so they can stay in their little bubble of "reality" while jamming their fingers in their ears going "La La La La La" while listening to the FACTS, AKA, the typical Fox/MSNBC news listener.
Don't think about all the things you fear, just be glad you're here.
