OH: Man Charged with Arson in Flag Burning

Man charged with arson in flag burning

    Published: Jan. 19, 2010 at 3:50 PM

DAYTON, Ohio, Jan. 19 (UPI) -- An Ohio man faces aggravated arson charges for allegedly burning a U.S. flag flying from a house where University of Dayton students were sleeping, police say.

Artem Voevodin, 23, was charged with the first-degree felony because the flag was on a pole attached to the house and the fire had the potential to harm the students, the Dayton Daily News reported Monday.

A chair down the street from the house also was found on fire, the newspaper said.

Dayton Police Lt. Brian Johns said on five other occasions police had found Voevodin in possession of spray paint of the type used to tag buildings.

Voevodin is listed on various Web sites as an "artist-in-residence" at the Dayton school, the Daily News said.

DAYTON, Ohio - Police have arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with the burning of a flag outside a University of Dayton student home on Monday.

Officers arrested 23-year-old Artem Voevodin late Monday night and charged him with aggravated arson, a first-degree felony. According to reports, Voevodin lit a flag on fire outside the house at 926 Alberta Avenue, which police said had the potential to injure those sleeping inside the residence.

Police said they also found a chair on fire down the street from the home.

Voevodin has a prior criminal record for vandalism and criminal damaging.

And I couldn't get into artschool and this is the type of stuff I like to paint aside from tall ships and other aviation.

Oil on canvas. I'm for the most part self taught. Although after seeing an exibition on 600 years of British Art at the Denver Art Museum, I will never use canvas again. The beautiful works of the old "masters" was done on board. A few on stretched linen, but mostly board. It has a smoother surface so better detailing can be performed.

Thankyou Dixie! This was done for a gentleman who was a US Navy WWII veteran, and this was the plane his brother was lost in over the Solomons in October 1943.

From what I understand, his brother's Squadron C.O. added his signature to the painting about a year later, which I found out the Major had been awarded the CMH for downing 7 enemy divebombers on his first combat mission. So I was really excited to hear that to say the least.

Well William, I never got to fly in the Mustang, but I did get for my birthday back in 01 a ride in Sentimental Journey. The B-17G that the CAF operates out of Mesa Arizona. My late sister suprised me with it.

This is the 17 I got to fly in.
