A shortage of homes on the market along with strong high-end sales combined to push up California’s median home price in May, marking the largest year-over-year price increase in 33 years, the California Association of Realtors said Monday.
The median price for an existing, single-family detached home in the state was $417,350, up 31.9 percent from May 2012 -- reflecting 15 straight months of year-over-year price increases. The median price was up 3.6 percent from April’s $402,760.
