Democrats Sabotage New Illinois Concealed Carry Law
ALERT: Illinois Democrats have proposed legislation that would make the Illinois concealed carry law so strict and expensive it would be almost unattainable.
On February 22, 2013 the Second Amendment Foundation won a significant victory for concealed-carry rights when the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals let stand a December ruling by a three-judge panel of the court that forces Illinois to adopt a concealed carry law, thus affirming that the right to bear arms exists outside the home.
The judge gave the Illinois' Congress 180 days to, "craft a new gun law that will impose reasonable limitations, consistent with the public safety and the Second Amendment...on the carrying of guns in public." - Judge Richard Posner
The NEW REQUIREMENTS for this outrageous legislation include:

  • 40 hours of training, 20 hours must be at the shooting range
  • The applicant is responsible for all training costs
  • Each applicant would be required to have $1,000,000 insurance liability policy
  • Training would be administered only by the Illinois State Police (according to one amendment, there are currently only 5 State Police firearms instructors)
  • Certain proposed amendments would make the permit a "may issue" permit which means anyone could be denied for any reason. Other proposed amendments mention a "shall issue" permit which would be given to anyone who meets all requirements.

The new concealed carry law was to impose reasonable limitations consistent with public safety and the Second Amendment. These proposals are the furthest thing from reasonable. These Democrats are angry at the judge's ruling to impose outrageous restrictions on concealed carry permits.
All Second Amendment patriots must come together not just for the state of Illinois but for the ongoing fight against these anti-gunners. We earned a victory in court to grant Illinois residents a fair way to get a concealed carry license.
If legislation like this passes in Illinois it will be the standard for Democrats to instate gun control tactics into pro-gun laws.
Patriots like you can put a stop to this outrageous legislation. Demand the Illinois Congressman create a new law that will be fair to those who will attain a concealed carry license in Illinois. If we do not put a stop to it, this extreme anti-gun legislation could be used as a template in your state.
