CARPENTERSVILLE — Three men were charged Monday in the kidnapping of a Round Lake Beach family, who were held hostage in a Carpentersville home over the weekend, police said.

Victor A. Hernandez, 22, of 642 Courtney Lane, Marengo; Juan Carlos Martinez, 26, of 3353 Narragansett, Chicago; and Paul Munoz-Noriega, 25, of 1900 West 48th, Chicago, all were charged with aggravated kidnapping, armed violence and aggravated battery with a firearm, Carpentersville Cmdr. Michael Kilbourne said.

Kilbourne could not confirm the information. He did not release further details, citing the ongoing investigation.

The incident began around 10:20 p.m. Saturday when an unidentified caller contacted 911 from a pay phone demanding to speak to a detective regarding a kidnapping at 111 Tee Road, according to police reports.

Officers began an investigation that resulted in a raid of the home, Kilbourne said.

Inside the home, eight people were found bound and gagged, sources said.

The men were taken into custody after a brief struggle. According to police sources, one of the victims was a young girl.

A resident of the home pulled into the driveway Monday afternoon but declined to identify himself. He said he rented the home but that he did not know what happened over the weekend. The man said he arrived home late Saturday night to find police surrounding the ranch-style home.

He had no other information, adding, "I don't want to know anything."

The actual kidnapping took place at a Round Lake Beach restaurant, The Chicken's Run Family Bar and Grille. Phone calls to the restaurant Monday went unanswered.

Carpentersville police issued a one-page press release Sunday with brief details, confirming only that eight people were being held against their will and several people were taken into custody. No life-threatening injuries were reported.

A multi-jurisdictional investigation — involving Carpentersville, Round Lake Beach and the Kane County State's Attorney's office — was continuing late Monday, Kilbourne said. No information was being released until police were certain all suspects were taken into custody, he said. He expected to have more information to release today.

Neighbors heard sirens and saw police converge on the home Saturday night, but few knew what happened.

Jose Hernandez's side yard sits on Tee Road. He said the neighborhood is quiet and that he has never had problems with anyone. Hernandez, no relation to the suspect, said he was surprised to learn of what occurred at the white house a few doors down.

No one told him what had happened, he said.

None of the other neighbors knew or wanted to talk about the incident.

Nothing like leaving out relevent information. I saw the pics but still trying to learn about how to post them and from those you knew it was a hispanic neighborhood.

Loved the part about having no information and not wanting to know any.
