Charlie Rangel Is Right . . . Slavery is Alive and Well in the DEMOCRAT Party

Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y.) attacked the Republican Party during a campaign rally for New York Democrat Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Rangel is adept at playing the race card. He doesn’t have any other card in his deck. He compared some members of the GOP to confederates from the Civil War era. To top it off, at the Cuomo event, he said that Republicans “believe that slavery isn't over.”

Here's what he said:

We have to win. We have to be able to send a national message with Andrew Cuomo. And the thing is: Everything we believe in— everything we believe in — they hate. They don't disagree— they hate! They think if you didn't come from Europe 30 years ago, you didn't even make it. Some of them believe that slavery isn't over and they and think they won the Civil War!

For once I have to agree with Rep. Rangel. Slavery isn’t over. It’s alive and well in the Democrat Party.

Try leaving the Democrat Party — if you’re Black — if you don’t think the plantation system operates with people like Rangel.

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas had left the racial reservation a long time ago. For Democrats, especially black Democrats, such a move is viewed as political treason. He’s been called an “Uncle Tom.” He’s not the only one. Al Gore’s campaign manager Donna Brazile called Colin Powell an “Uncle Tom” because of his support for George Bush. Here’s a headline from the Daily Kos: “Uncle Tom Powell Stumps for Massah Bush.”

Here’s one from Harry Belafonte:

In the days of slavery, there were those slaves who lived on the plantation and [there] were those slaves that lived in the house. You got the privilege of living in the house if you served the master … exactly the way the master intended to have you serve him. Colin Powell’s committed to come into the house of the master. When Colin Powell dares to suggest something other than what the master wants to hear, he will be turned back out to pasture.

Belafonte is describing the Democrat Party! The masters are Democrats, and don’t you dare say a word against the Democrat Plantation and those who run it or you will hunted down.

Unlike Thomas, Powell was affected by the racial epithets. He returned to the liberal plantation.

Let’s be clear. It’s not just Democrats that treat Blacks like they’re on a plantation. That’s why Star Parker has called it “Uncle Sam’s Plantation.” Democrats aren’t the only ones to blame.

Republicans are afraid to do what’s right because they’ll be labeled racists. Of course, both parties are sticking it to all of us, not just Blacks.

Black and white, were all slaves to the State, but it’s Blacks that have been hit hardest as Dr. Gary North points out in his article “The Negro Problem. (There! I've Said It!)”[1]:

“Here is what we are really facing. Blacks have little power. They have little power because the social order that was once the Black community has been almost destroyed by liberalism. There are two main aspects of this, although they have many ramifications. The first aspect is the welfare state. Black males have been undermined by the welfare state in much the same way as Native American males have been undermined by liquor and the welfare state.

“Certain social groups are more susceptible to the lure of free money than others. Just about every social group is lured by it, as Medicare and Social Security testify. But Blacks have been lured in higher percentages.

“All of the negative effects of the welfare state which conservatives warn about, although not with respect to Medicare and Social Security, have become manifest in the disintegrating Black community. That's the problem for liberals. It was their policies of the welfare state that did this.

“Any mention of this in public is dismissed by liberals, who blame the Negro problem on white racism. But the problem isn't white racism; the problem is the welfare state. Liberals are not about to rethink this, because it is central to their worldview.

“The second area that has been undermined by liberals in the Black community is the church. Liberal Protestantism has undermined the largest denomination within the Black community, the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Theological liberalism undercuts theological commitment.

This has been true for 110 years; this is not going to change. So, Blacks have stopped going to church, and there is not much conservative evangelism inside the inner city.

“I know this for a fact. I have experienced it firsthand, unlike most whites. In the inner city of Memphis, there are black churches, but the ones with any money have members who come in on Sundays from the better parts of town. The inner city itself is generally bereft of any kind of evangelism, other than storefront evangelism and Nation of Islam evangelism.”

So when Charlie Rangel makes the racism charge, he’s right. Liberalism, manifested in the welfare State, has continued the travesty of slavery in the name of “social justice" and made Blacks (and many whites) believe they are free indeed when they are slaves to government.
