Last month, Democrats in the state of New York cheered after a full-term abortion bill was passed, a video showing an interview at a local radio station exposed the KKK/Blackface Democrat governor of Virginia, Ralph Northam. His interview sent shockwaves across America when he openly defended the practice of killing a full-term baby after it’s been born.


Yesterday, the US Senate voted 53-44 in favor of legislation that would protect survivors of abortion, falling short of the necessary 60 votes to proceed as Democrats blocked the bill when only three of them joined Republicans.

Sens. Doug Jones of Alabama, Joe Manchin of West Virginia, and Bob Casey Jr. of Pennsylvania were the only Democrats to vote for the bill. All other 44 Democratic senators voted against the bill.

Republican Sens. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Tim Scott of South Carolina, and Kevin Cramer of North Dakota were not present for the vote.


The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act would have mandated that babies born alive during an abortion would receive “the same degree of professional skill and care to protect the newborn as would be offered to any other child born alive at the same gestational age,” according to Sen. Ben Sasse’s website.


“This bill isn’t about abortion,” Sasse, R-Neb., said, adding:

I’m pro-life. I’m unapologetically pro-life, but this bill is not actually about anything that limits abortion. This bill doesn’t have anything to do with Roe v. Wade. …


What this bill does is try to secure basic rights, equal rights for babies that are born and are outside the womb.


Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., challenged Sasse’s legislation, saying that it was “carefully crafted to target, intimidate, and shut down reproductive health care providers.” –Daily Signal
President Trump responded to the stunning votes by Senate Democrats, saying it will be remembered as “one of the most shocking votes in the history of Congress.”


What is “born alive” abortion?

The practice of leaving babies who’ve been born to die isn’t the only crisis America is facing, the practice of Democrat lawmakers pushing for full-term abortions is also becoming more prevalent.


The Illinois Family reports that Alaska, Colorado, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Vermont and the District of Columbiaare virtual killing fields. They don’t even require the pretense of a “health” reason for women to abort their full-term babies. In those 7 states, there are no bans on abortion at any stage. It’s open season on babies who, through no fault of their own, have the misfortune of being conceived in the wrong womb.


Since all 50 states and D.C. allow late-term abortions that threaten a mother’s life—as distinct from her “health”—it’s important to understand the inconvenient truth “progressives” don’t want Americans to think about: There is no life-threatening condition that would ever necessitate the direct, intentional, active killing of a baby in the womb. There are relatively rare occasions in which continuing a pregnancy threatens a woman’s life, but ending a pregnancy does not require the direct, intentional, active killing of a baby.

Doctors can induce delivery or perform a C-section to save a woman’s life in a life-threatening or emergency situation without dismembering, crushing, burning, or chemically inducing cardiac arrest in a baby. In some induced deliveries or C-sections, babies will not survive, but that is wholly different from intentionally killing them.


Stanek’s testimony shined a bright light on the former Illinois state senator, Barack Obama’s role in killing legislation that would have protected the lives of babies who were born alive after a botched abortion.


In 2007, then-presidential candidate, and U.S. Senator Barack Obama attempted to defend his repeated efforts to make allowing a baby to die from a botched abortion legal in the state of Illinois while he was a state senator.

Vote Alert: Protect Abortion Survivors by Banning Infanticide in America

This vote was to condemn infanticide and protect babies born alive after botched abortions.


The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, introduced by Sen. Ben Sasse, R-Neb., is not a difficult bill to read and understand. Unlike the thousand-page omnibus spending bills Congress frequently passes with bipartisan support, this bill is only seven pages long. It states that Congress finds: 1) “If an abortion results in the live birth of an infant, the infant is a legal person for all purposes under the laws of the United States, and entitled to all the protections of such laws”; and 2) “Any infant born alive after an abortion or within a hospital, clinic, or other facility has the same claim to the protection of the law that would arise for any newborn, or for any person who comes to a hospital, clinic, or other facility for screening and treatment or otherwise becomes a patient within its care.”


In other words, the government should treat babies born alive like human beings and require doctors to give them medical care. But that’s not what happens in America.


According to Americans United for Life, 19 states give no protections to babies who survive abortions. Reviewing data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Charlotte Lozier Institute found that “nationwide, between 2003 and 2014 at least 143 babies died after being born alive during botched abortions,” a number the CDC admits could be an underestimate. This is immoral.


Under Sasse’s proposal, a doctor present when a child is born alive after a failed abortion shall “exercise the same degree of professional skill, care, and diligence to preserve the life and health of the child as a reasonably diligent and conscientious health care practitioner would render to any other child born alive at the same gestational age.” The baby would have to be taken to a hospital for further care, instead of being left to die on a table. The penalty for failing to follow the law would be at least five years’ imprisonment. Additionally, the intentional killing of a child born alive would be prosecuted as murder.


The bill has a mandatory reporting requirement, so people working at an abortion facility would be required to report if and when an abortionist does not work to save the life of a baby born alive. The bill also gives a mother the legal right to sue if her baby is born alive and the abortionist let the child die.


This should not have been a hard vote. But Democrats opposed the bill by lying and mischaracterizing this legislation as an attack on abortion. This bill has nothing to do with abortion. This is not a debate over when life begins in the womb, or even a law that curtails late-term abortion. It is simply a bill that protects babies after they have been born.


In a sad day for America. Sasse’s bill failed to break a filibuster in the United States Senate, and most Senate Democrats went on the record defending infanticide in America.


The U.S. Senate voted to block the Born-Alive Survivors Protection Act on February 25, 2019, at 5:42 p.m. in a roll call vote of 53 – 44.
