According to news reports,this sudden violent rampage was completely out of character for James Holmes,who was described as “shy.”

The New York Times is now reporting:

Billy Kromka,a pre-med student at the University of Colorado,Boulder,worked with Mr. Holmes for three months last summer as a research assistant in a lab of at the Anschutz Medical Campus. Mr. Kromka said he was surprised to learn Mr. Holmes was the shooting suspect. “It was just shocking,because there was no way I thought he could have the capacity to do commit an atrocity like this,”he said. “He spent much of his time immersed in the computer,often participating in role-playing online games…”

There is already conjecture that James Holmes may have been involved in mind-altering neuroscience research and ended up becoming involved at a depth he never anticipated. His actions clearly show a strange detachment from reality,indicating he was not in his right mind. That can only typically be accomplished through drugs,hypnosis,or trauma (and sometimes all three).
His behavior doesn’t add up

His behavior already reveals stark inconsistencies that question the mainstream explanation of events. For example,he opened fire on innocent people but then calmly surrendered to police without resistance. This is not consistent with the idea of “killing everyone.”

Furthermore,he then admitted to police that his apartment was booby-trapped with explosives. If you were really an evil-minded Joker trying to kill people (including cops),why would you warn them about the booby trap in advance? It doesn’t add up.

“Holmes was taken into custody shortly after the shooting,police said,adding he didn’t resist when he was arrested,”reports a local CBS news affiliate (Police: 12 Dead In Colorado Theater Shooting During Midnight Showing Of New Batman Movie « CBS New York).

“After his arrest,Holmes told police about ‘possible explosives in his residence,’Oates said. When police searched his apartment,they discovered it was booby-trapped and evacuated surrounding buildings,police said. Oates said bomb technicians are determining how to disarm flammable or explosive material in the third-floor apartment. He said police could be there some time.”

None of this checks out. If you’re a killer bent on causing mayhem,why tell the police about your surprise bomb waiting for them back at your apartment?
Holmes was clearly provided with exotic gear

“He said pictures from inside the apartment are fairly disturbing and the devices look to be sophisticated,adding the booby-traps were ‘something I’ve never seen.’One rifle,two handguns,a knife,a bullet proof vest,a ballistic helmet,a gas device,a gas mask,military SWAT clothing and unidentified explosives were also found in Holmes’car,a law enforcement source told CBS News. Oates said Holmes wore a gas mask,a ballistic helmet and vest as well as leg,groin and throat protectors during the shooting.”

In other words, this guy was equipped with exotic gear by someone with connections to military equipment. SWAT clothing,explosives,complex booby-traps…c’mon,this isn’t a “lone gunman.”This is somebody who was selected for a mission,given equipment to carry it out,and then somehow brainwashed into getting it done.

This is not your run-of-the-mill crime of passion. It was a carefully planned, heavily funded and technically advanced attack. Who might be behind all this? As you soak all this in,remember that the FBI had admitted to setting up terror plots,providing the weapons and gear,staging the location of the bombings,and even driving the vehicles to pull it off! Mystery man Holmes has no background

On top of all this,Holmes apparently has no background. “He’s not on anybody’s radar screen —nothing,”said a peace officer in a NYT article. “This guy is somewhat of an enigma. Nobody knows anything about him.”(http://www.nytimes.com/2012/07/21/us...-shooting.html)

Mr. Holmes’s only criminal history is a traffic summons,the authorities said. He earned a bachelor’s degree with honors in neuroscience in 2010 from the University of California,Riverside,and was a graduate student in neurosciences at the University of Colorado at Denver’s Anschutz Medical Campus…He was currently collecting unemployment…
Question:How does an unemployed medical student afford $20,000 in weapons gear?

If you start to look at the really big picture here,the obvious question arises:How does an unemployed medical student afford all the complex weapons gear,bomb-making gear,“flammable”booby trap devices,ammunition,multiple magazines,bullet-proof vest,groin protection,ballistic helmet,SWAT uniform,and all the rest of it?

A decent AR-15 rifle costs $1,000 or more all by itself. The shotgun and handgun might run another $800 total. Spare mags,sights,slings,and so on will run you at least another $1,000 across three firearms. The bullet-proof vest is easily another $800,and the cost of the bomb-making gear is anybody’s guess. With all the specialty body gear,ammunition,booby-trap devices,and more,I’m guessing this is at least $20,000 in weapons and tactical gear,much of which is very difficult for civilians to get in the first place.

The mere manufacture of an explosive booby-trap device is,all by itself,a felony crime by the way. Question:Where does an unemployed,introverted medical school student get the training to deploy sophisticated booby traps,tactical body armor,weapons systems,and more? Certainly not in graduate school!

All this leads to an obvious third party influence over all this. Someone else taught this guy these skills and funded the acquisition of the equipment.

Note:Some readers have questioned the $20,000 figure estimated here,saying this gear could have been acquired for only $10,000 or so. I doubt that,as all the extras that you need to effectively run these guns cost a lot of money:training courses,spare magazines,etc. Just a decent AR-15 battle sight (a holographic red dot sight) can run $1,000 –$2,000. Search “ACOG”if you don’t believe me. It is also reported that Holmes bought 6,000 rounds of ammo,which definitely isn’t cheap either. It’s clear this guy was spending big bucks. Whether it’s $10k or $20k isn’t really that much of a point.
Staged just in time for a vote on the UN small arms treaty?

More and more,this shooting is looking like a deliberate plot staged by the government itself much like Operation Fast and Furious pulled off by the ATF (US government openly admits arming Mexican drug gangs with 30,000 firearms - but why?) which helped smuggle tens of thousands of guns into Mexico for the purpose of causing “gun violence”in the USA,then blaming the Second Amendment for it.

All this looks like James Holmes completed a “mission”and then calmly ended that mission by surrendering to police and admitting everything. The mission,as we are now learning,was to cause as much terror and mayhem as possible,then to have that multiplied by the national media at exactly the right time leading up the UN vote next week on a global small arms treaty that could result in gun confiscation across America. Even Forbes.com wrote about this quite extensively,warning readers about the coming gun confiscation effort related to the UN treaty. The story was authored by Larry Bell (http://www.forbes.com/sites/larrybel...eement-should…) and says the UN treaty could “override our national sovereignty,and in the process,provide license for the federal government to assert preemptive powers over state regulatory powers guaranteed by the Tenth Amendment in addition to our Second Amendment rights.”

In other words,this has all the signs of Fast &Furious,Episode II. I wouldn’t be surprised to discover someone in Washington was behind it all. After all,there’s no quicker way to disarm a nation and take total control over the population than to stage violence,blame it on firearms,then call for leaders to “do something!”Such calls inevitably end up resulting in gun confiscation,and it’s never too long after that before government genocide really kicks in like we saw with Hitler,Stalin,Pol Pot,Mao and other tyrants.

A “monopoly of force”in government is far more dangerous than a crazed lone shooter

So yes,James Holmes and other crazed shooters kill a number of people each year in random acts of violence. It’s horrifying and wrong,but it’s nothing compared to the millions of lives that governments tend to destroy when they gain total power over the populace.

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) -- His hair dyed orange-red and a dazed look on his face, the man accused of going on a deadly shooting rampage at the opening of the new Batman movie appeared Monday in court for the first time.

An unshaven, handcuffed James Holmes, 24, sat in maroon jailhouse jumpsuit as the judge advised him of the case. Holmes sat motionless, his eyes appearing tired and drooping.

At one point, he closed his eyes as the judge spoke. It wasn't immediately known if Holmes was on medication. Authorities have said he is being held in isolation at the jail.

Police say Holmes, clad in body armor and armed with an assault rifle, a shotgun and handguns opened fire at the midnight showing of "The Dark Knight Rises," killing 12 people and wounding 58 others.

He was arrested shortly after the Friday shooting. He is refusing to cooperate, authorities say. They said it could take months to learn what prompted the attack on the moviegoers.

Holmes was brought over from the Arapahoe County detention facility and walked into the courtroom with attorneys and others.

He sat down in a jury box, seated next to one of his attorneys. His entrance was barely noticeable but relatives of shooting victims leaned forward in their seats to catch their first glimpse of him.

Some stared at him the entire hearing, including Tom Teves, the father of Alex Teves, who was killed in the shooting. Two women held hands tightly, one shaking her head.

After the hearing, prosecutor Carol Chambers said that "at this point, everyone is interested in a fair trial with a just outcome for everybody involved."

Chambers earlier Monday her office is considering pursuing the death penalty against Holmes. She said a decision will be made in consultation with victims' families.

Holmes is expected to be formally charged next Monday. Holmes is being held on suspicion of first-degree murder, and he could also face additional counts of aggravated assault and weapons violations.
Holmes has been assigned a public defender.

Security at the hearing was tight. Uniformed sheriff's deputies were stationed outside, and deputies were positioned on the roofs of both court buildings at the Arapahoe County Justice Center.

Police have said Holmes began buying guns at Denver-area stores nearly two months before Friday's shooting and that he received at least 50 packages in four months at his home and at school.

Holmes' apartment was filled with trip wires, explosive devices and unknown liquids, requiring police, FBI officials and bomb squad technicians to evacuate surrounding buildings while spending most of Saturday disabling the booby traps.

Investigators found a Batman mask inside Holmes' apartment after they finished clearing the home, a law enforcement official close to the investigation said Sunday on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the news media.

Officials at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus were looking into whether Holmes used his position in a graduate program to collect hazardous materials, but that disclosure was one of the few it has made three days after the massacre. It remained unclear whether Holmes' professors and other students at his 35-student Ph.D. program noticed anything unusual about his behavior.

His reasons for quitting the program in June also remained a mystery. Holmes recently took an intense oral exam that marks the end of the first year. University officials would not say if he passed, citing privacy concerns.

Amid the continuing investigation of Holmes and his background, Sunday was a day for healing and remembrance in Aurora, with the community holding a prayer vigil and President Barack Obama arriving to visit with families of the victims.

Obama said he told the families that "all of America and much of the world is thinking about them." He met with them at the University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, which treated 23 of the people injured in the mass shooting; 10 remain there, seven hurt critically.

Congregations across Colorado prayed for the shooting victims and their relatives. Elderly churchgoers at an aging Presbyterian church within walking distance near Holmes' apartment joined in prayer, though none had ever met him.

Several thousand gathered for healing at the vigil Sunday night.

"You're not alone, and you will get through it," said the Rev. Kenneth Berve, pastor at Grant Avenue United Methodist Church and a witness to Friday's horrors. "We can't let fear and anger take control of us."

Meanwhile, the owner of a gun range told the AP that Holmes applied to join the club last month but never became a member because of his behavior and a "bizarre" message on his voicemail.

Holmes emailed an application to join the Lead Valley Range in Byers on June 25 in which he said he was not a user of illegal drugs or a convicted felon, said owner Glenn Rotkovich. When Rotkovich called to invite him to a mandatory orientation the following week, Rotkovich said he heard a message on Holmes' voicemail that was "bizarre - guttural, freakish at best."

Rotkovich left two other messages but eventually told his staff to watch out for Holmes at the July 1 orientation and not to accept him into the club, Rotkovich said.

The pastor for the suspect's family recalled a shy boy who was driven to succeed academically.

"He wasn't an extrovert at all. If there was any conversation, it would be because I initiated it, not because he did," said Jerald Borgie, senior pastor of Penasquitos Lutheran Church. Borgie said he never saw the suspect mingle with others his age at church. He last spoke with Holmes about six years ago.

"He had some goals. He wanted to succeed, he wanted to go out, and he wanted to be the best," Borgie said. "He took pride in his academic abilities. A good student. He didn't brag about it."

During the attack early Friday, Holmes allegedly set off gas canisters and used a semiautomatic rifle, a shotgun and a pistol to open fire on theater-goers, Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates said.

Holmes had bought the weapons at local gun stores in the past two months. He recently bought 6,000 rounds of ammunition over the Internet, the chief said.

The gunman's semiautomatic assault rifle jammed during the attack, forcing him to switch to another gun with less firepower, a federal law enforcement official told The Associated Press. That malfunction and weapons switch might have saved some lives.

Oates said a 100-round ammunition drum was found in the theater, but he said he didn't know whether it jammed or emptied.

The shooting was the worst in the U.S. since the Nov. 5, 2009, attack at Fort Hood, Texas. An Army psychiatrist was charged with killing 13 soldiers and civilians and wounding more than two dozen others.

Chertoff Suggests Precrime Solution to Mass Shooting Psychos

Cognizant of the fact grabbing guns from law-abiding citizens will not stop psychos from engaging in mass shootings, former Homeland Security boss Michael Chertoff believes government should hone its ability to spot criminals and terrorists before they inflict damage on society.
“We need to understand more about the signs that show somebody is either becoming deranged or becoming a terrorist, because there’s a commonality we see again and again, which is a sudden change in behavior, usually some element of becoming more isolated and changing the way you relate to people,” Chertoff said over the weekend on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

Chertoff tried to link the Aurora shooting to Muslim terrorism by mentioning Major Hasan.

“The question there again was how come Major [Nidal Malik] Hasan was not detected earlier before the horrible shootings in Fort Hood,” he said.

“It was, in a sense, a failure of imagination. Here’s somebody who was getting radicalized, who was communicating with a terrorist over the internet and yet the people looking at that somehow they couldn’t get their heads around the assumption that somehow because he was an army officer, he couldn’t be turning in a bad direction. So we need to rethink our approach to this.”

Hasan supposedly connived with Anwar al-Awlaki, the Pentagon dinner guest allegedly killed in Yemen by the CIA and the Joint Special Operations Command.

The Aurora and Fort Hood shootings have absolutely nothing in common – except they are both mass killings – but this is irrelevant for the opportunist Chertoff who is more interested in pushing his neocon agenda of forever war against the enemies of Israel. He also has a financial interest in the war against manufactured enemies – his security consulting agency, Chertoff Group, includes a client that manufactures porno scanners for locked-down airports in the United States.

Chertoff has a vested interest in keeping the lucrative war on terror going for as long as possible and may get the opportunity in November. In 2011, he was invited to join a select number of fellow neocons – including Robert Kagan, Eliot Cohen, Dan Senor and other Bush era leftovers – as candidate Romney’s foreign policy “advisory team.”

Despite Chertoff’s obsession with the completely overblown threat posed by radicalized Muslims, the Department of Homeland Security has moved to incorporate precrime in its modus operandi and the shootings in Colorado may work in its favor.

In October, Declan McCullagh reported that a program designed to predict whether a person will commit a crime was being tested.

Earlier in 2011, we reported on efforts by the DHS to subject Americans to precrime interrogations and physiological scans to detect “malintent” at sports stadiums, malls, airports and other public places.

The precrime schemes are an expansion of the “See Something, Say Something” program rolled out by the mega-agency. The creepy program is ominously akin to efforts by East Germany’s Stasi to turn citizens into stool pigeons.

“At the height of its influence around one in seven of the East German population was an informant for the Stasi. As in Nazi Germany, the creation of an informant system was wholly centered around identifying political dissidents and those with grievances against the state, and had little or nothing to do with genuine security concerns,” Washington’s Blog wrote in February.

Likewise, Chertoff’s suggestion that officialdom somehow ferret out “deranged terrorists” and other malcontents is not a serious effort to put an end to mass murder, but it is part of a political agenda (in Chertoff’s case, keeping the Islamic jihadist threat myth alive).

Beyond the Muslim threat, the state is interested in finding “deranged” political opponents before they exercise their First Amendment right to seek a redress of grievances and other terrorist solutions to tyranny.

Chertoff and the establishment know it is virtually impossible to prevent lunatics from engaging in public mass murder. Instead, they are moving to create a framework of surveillance and a network of “see something, say something” informants that will be used for political purposes under the transparent guise of protecting innocents from terrorists.

A Colorado university just 16 miles away from the site of Friday morning’s deadly ‘Batman’ massacre staged an identical exercise the very same day in which students were trained how to react to a gunman firing at people in a movie theater.

“Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine is in the middle of holding specialized classes in disaster life support for 150 second-year medical students. Along with response to natural disasters like hurricanes and floods and terrorist attacks, one of the scenarios being used to train the students is how to respond if a shooter fires at people in a movie theater and also uses a bomb in the attack,” reports the Denver Post.

The added detail of a bomb being used in the drill makes the similarity with the shooting even more creepy given the fact that gunman James Holmes used a smoke bomb during his deadly assault.
The drill was part of an Advanced Disaster Life Support Training exercise which involves emergency specialist physicians. The shootings in Aurora were actually incorporated into the training at the University which took place just hours after the massacre.
“The irony is amazing, just amazing,” said Rocky Vista Dean Dr. Bruce Dubin.
The school drill was just one of a number of strange coincidences that eerily paralleled the tragic massacre druing which 12 people were killed dozens more injured.

One of them was a 1986 Batman cartoon in which “a crazed, gun-toting loner walks into a movie theater and begins shooting it up.”

As Angus Hogwarth notes, there are numerous other paralells with the Batman series involving acts of violence taking place in theaters.
In another shocking coincidence, a trailer that preceded The Dark Knight Rises for a movie called Gangster Squad shows gangsters emerging from behind the screen to shoot up a movie theater. Warner Brothers were forced to desperately pull the trailer within hours of the Aurora shooting.

Shooter James Holmes and DARPA Weird Science

Appearing on the Alex Jones Show today, investigative journalist Wayne Madsen said accused shooter James Holmes had a number of links to U.S. government-funded research centers, including the Defense Advance Research Projects Agency, or DARPA.

James Holmes was one of six recipients of a National Institutes of Health Neuroscience Training Grant at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Denver, Madsen writes for the Wayne Madsen Report.

“The Anschutz Medical Campus is on the recently de-commisioned site of the U.S. Army’s Fitzsimons Army Medical Center and is named after Philip Anschutz, the billionaire Christian fundamentalist oil and railroad tycoon who also owns The Examiner newspaper chain and website and the neo-conservative Weekly Standard,” Madsen explains. “The Anschutz Medical Campus was built by a $91 million grant from the Anschutz Foundation.”

Holmes also worked as a research assistant intern at the Salk Institute at the University of California at San Diego in La Jolla. The Salk Institute teamed up with DARPA, Columbia University, University of California at San Francisco, University of Wisconsin at Madison, Wake Forest University, and the candy bar company Mars “to prevent fatigue in combat troops through the enhanced use of epicatechina, a blood flow-increasing and blood vessel-dilating anti-oxidant flavanol found in cocoa and, particularly, in dark chocolate,” according to Madsen’s research.

The DARPA program was part of the military’s “Peak Soldier Performance Program,” which involved engineering brain-machine interfaces for battlefield use and other bionic projects.

In addition, James Holmes’ father, Dr. Robert Holmes, worked for San Diego-based HNC Software, Inc., a company that worked with DARPA to develop “cortronic neural networks” that enable machines to translate aural and visual stimuli and simulate human thinking.

The Holmes family appears to have deep connections to the military-industrial complex. Lt. Col. Robert Holmes, the grandfather of James Holmes, was a graduate Turkish language graduates of the Army Language School, later the Defense Language Institute, in Monterey, California (the same military installation, incidentally, where alleged 9/11 hijacker Saeed Alghamdi trained).

The elder Holmes, Madsen notes, more than likely worked in intelligence. “Typically, U.S. military officers conversant in Turkish served with either the Defense Intelligence Agency or the Central Intelligence Agency at either the U.S. embassy in Ankara or the Consulate General in Istanbul, or both,” he writes.

“Was James Holmes engaged in a real-life Jason Bourne TREADSTONE project that broke down and resulted in deadly consequences in Aurora, Colorado?” Madsen concludes. Operation Treadstone was a fictional top-secret CIA project under which the character Jason Bourne underwent behavioral modification.

Gun Sales Spike By Almost Double After Batman Massacre

Gun sales in Colorado and elsewhere in the country have spiked exponentially since Friday’s tragic mass shooting in Aurora.

The Denver Post reported today that 1,216 background checks were conducted in Colorado on Friday alone for people looking to purchase a gun. That equates to a 43 percent increase compared to the average number of checks for the previous two Fridays,
Friday through Sunday, Colorado approved a total of 2,887 background checks, again a 43% rise on the same period in the previous week.

“A lot of it is people saying, ‘I didn’t think I needed a gun, but now I do,’” Jake Meyers, a worker at the Parker gun store, told the Denver Post. “When it happens in your backyard, people start reassessing – ‘Hey, I go to the movies.’”

“It’s been insane,” Meyers added, referring to the amount of people seeking training for a concealed carry permit, a legal right in 49 of the 50 US states.

Elsewhere in the country, gun shop owners have seen a similar boom in sales.

In North Carolina, for example, a number of firearm retailers like Brandon Ginther are reporting an increase in sales.

“Stuff like this makes people start wondering about gun laws, especially with a election,” Ginther told local reporters for News 14. “You don’t know what is coming up, you just never know.”
It’s a trend that has been ongoing throughout the nation for some time now, with a potential second term for president Obama cited as a driving factor, along with increasing expectation of a break down in society following a national emergency such as a large natural disaster or pandemic virus outbreak.

A recent FBI report noted that violent crime was down by 4% nationwide in 2011, while gun sales are up 50%, leading some to point to a correlation.



While both he and Mitt Romney have commented that existing gun laws are sufficient enough to restrict those with criminal intentions from accessing firearms, gun enthusiasts fear that Obama will use a second term to follow through on a promise he made to gun control advocate Sarah Brady during a White House meeting last year. Namely that his administration was working “under the radar” to sneak attack the second amendment rights of American citizens.

Following record one day sales on Black Friday last December, gun stores celebrated all time high sales for the month of February.

Gun manufacturer Smith & Wesson’s shares also shot up 18 per cent in March, their highest level in two years, on the back of reports of a 60 per cent surge in backlog orders.

Interest in gun shows is also rampant, with record turnouts showing up to events nationwide. Concealed carry permits in the state have soared by as much as 270 per cent over the last year in some counties.

Hi, I’m Dr. Moira Dolan, internal medical physician with the Medical Accountability Network. A lot of people have been asking, “What is the connection between violence, suicide and homicide and antidepressant medications?”



Let’s take a look at this. There are numerous examples of people who have gone off on a shooting rampage and killed their classmates, their co-workers, members of their family and often took their own lives, then it was shortly discovered that they were taking an antidepressant.

The apparency is that the person was mentally ill and went on a rage but when these cases have actually been looked at closer, what we find is that the person did not have any violent tendencies and in most cases was not even suicidal before they started treatment with their antidepressant medication.

Let’s take a look at what the manufacturers say about their own drugs in this class called antidepressants. I’m going to be reading here from package labels of various antidepressant medications. Now, the labeling is something that is required by the FDA, the wording of the labeling is “FDA Approved and Required.” Let’s take a look at what the FDA has required the manufacturers to reveal in their product labeling in their anti-depressant drugs regarding violence, homicide, and suicide.

I’m going to start by looking at the packaging insert for Prozac. Prozac is also known as fluoxitine. And here are some things that the manufacturer [Eli Lilly and Co.] themselves say about Prozac. One of the things that the manufacturer warns us and the FDA requires the manufacturer to let us know on the labels: These drugs can cause what is known as akathisia. Akathisia is a medical word that literally means “can’t sit still.” And it has two parts to it. The first part is what you can actually see in a person; the motor part of it, a person cannot sit still.

They have restlessness, toe-tapping, shifting from leg to leg, pacing, in any case, they can’t sit still. They try to sit down or even to lie down and next thing you know, they’re hopping up again and they’re pacing, they look and act agitated. This [akathisia] is a straight-forward chemical effect of the drug.

THE ASSASSINATION OF OUR YOUTH

SSRIs, or selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, are the pharmaceutical companies latest cash cows. Their use has skyrocketed in the last ten years. Nicknamed “Chemical Babysitters” and designated anti depressants, they are causing dozens of murders, thousands of psychoses and are altering the minds of millions of users. All but a very few of the latest “Mass Murderers” have been on these drugs. Schools encourage parents to put their children on these drugs for the smallest signs of “non conformity”. Schools receive more money for “disabled” students.

The Scourge of Prozac

When I first heard about the Columbine High School massacre, my initial thought was, “Lord help us, were they taking Prozac?” Nine days later, it was reported that Eric Harris, one of the shooters, was taking Luvox, which, like Prozac, Zoloft and Paxil, belongs to the class of drugs known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). In one out of every 25 children taking it, Luvox causes mania, “a psychosis characterized by exalted feelings, delusions of grandeur…and overproduction of ideas.”
Guns Are Blamed, but What About Prescription Drugs?

Likely due to pressure from the pharmaceutical industry-heavy advertisers in all media-the national debate on the epidemic of teen violence has ignored the widespread use of prescription drugs in teens and particularly those who have committed monstrous acts. However, the drug-violence link is frighteningly common. Fifteen-year-old Shawn Cooper of Notus, Idaho, fired a shotgun at students and school staff. According to his stepfather, he had been taking an SSRI. Thirteen-year-old Chris Fetters of Iowa killed her favorite aunt. She was taking Prozac.

Kip Kinkel, a 15-year-old youth, went on a rampage in Oregon. He first shot and killed his parents, spent the night with the bodies (characteristic of the dissociative reaction these drugs often cause), then killed two and wounded 22 of his fellow students at Thurston High School. He was taking Prozac.

SSRI Drugs Can Turn People Into Monsters

Look, folks, these are the acts of monsters. The accessibility of guns and violent movies alone does not create monsters out of children. But prescription drugs that markedly alter brain chemistry can-and do! Particularly drugs like Prozac, which are, in my opinion, the chemical equivalent of a ghoulish Stephen King monster hiding in the closet. A few people have tried to warn the neighborhood, but no one is listening.

And SSRIs don’t backfire in children only. In November 1991, 66-year-old Barbara Mortenson attacked her 81-year-old mother, biting her more than 20 times and leaving chunks of flesh strewn on the floor. Barbara had been taking Prozac for the previous two weeks. Kristine Marie Cushing, age 39, had been separated from her husband for several months. In October 1991, she took a .38-caliber pistol and shot and killed both of her children, Elizabeth age 8, and Stephanie Marie, age 4, while they lay sleeping in their beds, then shot herself, inflicting a non-fatal wound. Prosecutors stated that they “couldn’t find one iota of information to show that she was anything but a very giving, caring and sweet human being.” After a plea of insanity, she was committed to a mental institution. What made her snap? She had been taking Prozac.

Ann Blake Tracy, Ph.D., author of Prozac: Panacea or Pandora?, has been studying the violent, dark side of SSRI drugs for ten years. She has researched 32 murder/suicides that involved women and their children. By interviewing their families and studying autopsy reports, news accounts and medical histories, she has determined that in 24 of these 32 cases, the women were taking Prozac or another SSRI.

Revealing the Link: SSRIs and School Shootings

An in depth look at school shootings, and the commonly known side effects of SSRIs, reveals the drugs to be a primary factor leading to violence.

Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors, or SSRIs, are commonly used to treat depression in children and adolescents. In 2005, the Center for Disease Control reported that 118 million prescriptions had been written for anti-depressants, and that the number of people using anti-depressants had “almost tripled between the periods 1988-1994 and 1999-2000”. One popular SSRI drug called Prozac has been prescribed to more than 38 million people worldwide.

Unfortunately SSRIs can cause many different side effects. The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders IV is the most widely used source of diagnostic information for mental health by health professionals. It has “consistently confirmed that all anti-depressants can cause mania” which is a “potentially psychotic condition of intense mental and emotional excitement”. Mania often involves feelings of invulnerability, extreme power, farfetched and elaborate plans, as well as the urge to commit violence. A recent controlled clinical trial of the SSRI Prozac showed that it caused mania in six percent of the test subjects. Other side effects of Prozac include agitation, anxiety, instability, confusion, hallucinations, hostility and psychosis. Studies have also repeatedly shown an increased risk of suicide for people taking an SSRI.

Colorado gunman's hit rate suggests much practice, officials say

2:48 p.m. CDT, July 24, 2012 In the wake of Friday's massacre at an Aurora, Colo., movie theater, law enforcement officials familiar with the investigation say the gunman must have had a substantial amount of target practice before the shootings.
They based their assessment on what they call the gunman's “unusually high” hit rate during the attack in the theater. Twelve people were killed, and 58 were injured.

The gunman used -- perhaps most notably -- an AR-15 assault-style rifle with a magazine that could hold as many as 100 rounds. But when that weapon jammed, authorities said, he switched to a less powerful weapon. He also carried a 12-gauge shotgun and a Glock .40-caliber pistol, authorities say.

Police said they recovered a second Glock from the suspect's car.

Among other things, the law enforcement officials said, authorities are searching the suspect's apartment for evidence of a gun range receipt, a brochure, related information he accessed on his computer or phone calls he may have placed to a range.

The officials are being briefed on the local investigation, but did not want to be named because of the sensitivity of the developing case.

Such evidence would go to the gunman's state of mind, the officials said, and provide more evidence of premeditation and that he deliberately planned the attack. For the government, investigators said, such evidence would tend to knock down any defense strategy that the suspect is insane.

Or the gunman could have simply gone out to the prairie east of Aurora and practiced alone, much like Tucson shooting suspect Jared Lee Loughner did before the attack in Arizona last year.

One local shooting range owner said the suspect in the Aurora case, James E. Holmes, applied for membership at his club in June. But when the owner, Glenn Rotkovich, called Holmes, he was unnerved by the answering machine message.
"It was this very bass, guttural, rambling, incoherent message that was bizarre, at best," Rotkovich told the Los Angeles Times on Sunday. "Freakish, maybe."

Rotkovich ultimately told his staff not to follow through with Holmes without checking with him, but Holmes never showed up. The next time Rotkovich heard his name, it was on television.

Officials monitoring the local investigation in Colorado said the gunman displayed a high degree of marksmanship for an amateur.

They said he first fired the shotgun, which would have sprayed a large area of the theater with buckshot or pellets. Then he fired the semiautomatic AR-15 with the 100-round magazine. When that weapon jammed, he started shooting from the Glock pistol, they said.

Further, the gunman was shooting in a dark theater after midnight and aiming at moving targets, all amid a canopy of thick gas from canisters he'd set off. That environment, when combined with the kick from the shotgun and the Glock, would make firing with much precision all the harder.

To kill 12 people and wound 58 in that kind of chaos would be “unusually high for someone new to this,” one official said.

Officials also theorize that the suspect believed police were being drawn to an explosion at his apartment and that time was on his side.

When he burst out of the back of the theater, he probably had one of several plans in mind, they said. One, retrieve the second Glock from his white Hyundai and return to the theater, or drive off with the Glock and use it should he come under police fire, officials said. Or, as one official said, “turn the gun on himself.”
Instead, police were at the theater within two minutes and arrested the suspect before he reached his car.
