An Arizona Republican has said that he plans to draft Articles of Impeachment against Obama’s henchman, Eric Holder, or add his name to the increasingly long list that has already signed onto an impeachment bill since last November.
Rep. Paul Gosar said that Holder’s engaging in what he calls “illegal alien smuggling” through not enforcing the nation’s laws along with allowing the transport and release of illegals in Arizona by the DHS. He’s also upset that Holder has failed to pursue charges against anybody who was involved with the IRS scandal, as well as standing idly by while Obama yet again bucked the law with the release of detainees from Gitmo.
“We’ve seen a wanton disrespect for the rule of law,” he says. “Very, very poor legal counsel is being given to the president by the attorney general.”
According to Gosar during a press release on Thursday, “Flooding our streets with illegal aliens who are being abandoned without resources is not just inhumane and cruel, it is a crime and federal law bans alien smuggling,” he explained.
“This is the most lawless administration in the history. … It starts at the top with Eric Holder and if the chief law enforcement officer of the United States is not going to enforce the laws of this land, then he should be impeached.”
This isn’t Gosar’s first run at the Attorney General either. It was his efforts that led to Holder being held in contempt of Congress with a bipartisan vote of 255 to 67 in June of 2012 over the Fast and Furious scandal.
Obviously, Holder didn’t enforce the contempt citation against himself and Obama then was able to get Congress to back down by invoking executive privilege over the requested documents. However this time around Gosar says that impeachment is something that the House majority can act upon by themselves.
“My calls have been very, very successful in the Republican aspect and right now I’m working on the leadership in the House,” he says. “It’s a difficult move because it means we’re coming to the last vestiges of how we deal with how we solve these problems, but when people look at the facts, we can’t keep doing this, we have to be a law-abiding country.”
