Months before he became a White House staffer, Sebastian Gorka was fired for anti-Muslim rants, the Daily Beast reports.

Gorka in August 2016 told law enforcement officials participating in an introductory-level class in the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Forces that all Muslims adhere to Shariah law and that there was no such thing as mainstream Muslims.

President Donald Trump appointed Gorka, 46, as a deputy assistant in February and he’s been a public defender of the administration since, speaking out in favor of the travel ban and calling out news outlets for "fake news."

Gorka, also a former Breitbart national security editor, has come under fire for alleged ties to a Nazi-linked group after he wore the honorary medal of Hungarian nationalist organization Vitezi Rend to the president’s Jan. 20 Inaugural Ball. The group was listed by the State Department during World War II as, "under the direction of the Nazi government of Germany."

The Daily Beast also reported that Gorka’s company received $103,000 from the FBI for training materials between 2012 and 2016.

"Sebastian Gorka was better known as an ideologue than an objective terrorism researcher when the FBI hired him, which raises a question whether its goal was to promote flawed notions about ‘radical Islam’ within law enforcement rather than to provide reliable scholarly research that could be used to make all American communities safer," said former FBI agent Mike German.
