Death By Midterm: Now the Obama Autopsy Start

John Ransom | May 30, 2014

The moment President Barack Obama and Speaker John Boehner agreed to raise taxes on all Americans was the moment that the Obama presidency died.
Getting past Obama's lame duck status at that point, he also lost whatever moral authority he still had with the Left, which was little. He didn't just soak the rich, they realized, he soaked the poor and the middle class, too.
Say what you want about the foot soldiers of the progressive movement, but they're not hypocrites so much as they are stupid.
On the Left, stupidity counts over hypocrisy as a kind of promotion.
And, so, a lame-duck president, lacking even the bully pulpit with his base, is death; death by midterm, which in most liberal states has been declared cruel and unusual punishment even for the most hardened Democrats.
And that's why those states continue to elect the most hardened Democrats.
So since the second inaugural, Obama's been nothing but a Weekend-at-Bernie's president, a dead man walking, propped up by the usual assortment of Washington sycophants and the media.
But now the taint of corruption has begun to stink up the Obama relics, as even the most devout, most faithful, most religious Obamanians are beginning to confess.
Tax increases, the Obamacare rollout, redline diplomacy, the NSA and spying scandals; each in its turn has been accompanied by more and more muttering from the maddening Left.
And now, the criticism of Obama is becoming more distinct.
As the VA scandal has unrolled, the media has begun to notice Obama's detached management style. Of course the rest of us have noticed for years that Obama's detachment is more of a disorder than that of a style.
“[John] King [of CNN] reported the devastating consequences are what democrats are saying privately,” reports our friends over at Breitbart about the press coverage of the VA scandal. “King said Obama's colleagues are now calling the president detached, flat footed, and incompetent. Maggie Haberman of Politico agreed with King adding… ‘all of this adds up to somebody who just doesn't seem involved.’”
Ah, the old addition by subtraction. No wonder it's taken so long for liberals to understand.
But the break by the media is significant, and will likely grow as time goes by.
Even now the official newspaper of Progressives Everywhere, the New York Times, is panning Obama's recent foreign-policy speech at West Point.
“The New York Times editorial board,” reports Politico, with biased understatement, “often supportive of the White House, wrote that his ‘address did not match the hype, was largely uninspiring, lacked strategic sweep and is unlikely to quiet his detractors, on the right or the left.’”
While that's typically true of everything Obama does, from a golf game to a major speech, again, it’s significant that the media actually noticed this time.
That the New York Times criticism of the president's speech doesn't match the hype, is largely uninspiring, lacked strategic sweep and is unlikely to quiet their detractors on the right or the left, is irony too rich to be ignored.
So savor the moment.
Because underneath the bland admonishments of the Gray Lady is the recognition by Democrats that Obama's presidency is dead already; so let the public inquest begin!

The jackasses are hoping to find some mitigating evidence in the autopsy of Obama's presidency that helps them avoid death by midterm.
But like their president, I think they're dead already.
Well, brain-dead anyway.
