Looking into emergency preparedness sites, I found this one. With so much talk of potential threats to our national security, around the nation and especially for those on our southern border, I thought the information was timely. The subject itself is not alarmist, but simply to be wise about the "what if's" we could be presented with. What if there was a electronic impulse weapon used, and comunications was cut off, and chaos of course could happen?

What if supply lines were cut off and store shelves ran bare? Either in national, or local natural emergency situations, we need to think ahead. People in disaster prone locations for the most part do, however, many of us live in benign locations where it seems far off we'd ever have to store up, or make a run for it with our supplies to a safe location. In this case, sometimes we tend to want to bury our heads in the sand and think some sort of life altering disaster or threat likely will not happen and go living life as though we will simply never be affected by anything. To me now, especially after 9/11, seeing the chaos spilling over our southern border, and the horrible tragedies of Katrina, I realized, for me it was something I needed to consider planning for.

I still live my normal life, I do not invite or want disaster, I do not want to hole up in the mountains shutting out society. I just want to be prepared for the what if's and then live happily. I do think we all need to try to prepare for things to get worse financially in this nation, and to consider that supplies may become costly and with so many losing incomes and homes (assets), it is really plausible that prices could skyrocket and we'd have no hedge against going hungry, in the least.
