Democracy Alliance-Linked Drug Company Lobbyist Made Ebola Czar

Ron Klain appointed despite no medical background

The new Ebola czar has ties to a secret liberal dark money group and once worked as a lobbyist for a prescription drug company that denied experimental drugs to dying cancer patients.
Ron Klain, a former adviser to former Vice President Al Gore, Vice President Joe Biden, and President Barack Obama, currently is president of Case Holdings and is general counsel to the investment firm Revolution LLC.
Klain is also a trustee for Third Way. Claiming to be the voice for the “vital center,” Third Way is a progressive think tank that advocates for immigration reform, gun control, and a “credible alternative to neoconservative security policy.”
Third Way is also listed on the Democracy Alliance’s “Progressive Infrastructure Map.”
The map, which is detailed in a report by Politico’s Kenneth Vogel, includes organizations that are “politically active and progressive” and “strategically significant.” Third Way is one of the groups listed with a note of special appreciation for playing “instrumental roles in building a stronger, more integrated progressive infrastructure.”
The Democracy Alliance solicits contributions from liberal millionaires and billionaires and serves as a “pass through” between those donors and top liberal advocacy groups, including the Center for American Progress, Media Matters for America, and Democratic Super PAC Priorities USA.
Klain is also on the Board of Directors for the Center for American Progress Action Fund.
He will be in charge of the administration’s emergency response efforts to Ebola, despite having no medical or health care background.
Klain did lobby on behalf of a prescription drug company that was accused of withholding life-saving drugs from dying patients.
While working at O’Melveny & Myers after he left the Clinton administration, Klain helped ImClone push back on a congressional investigation into the company’s procedures for granting cancer patients experimental drugs.
The company only granted 30 so-called “compassionate use” supplies out of more than 10,000 requests, according to Politico. Klain and his team lobbied House members on the Oversight committee for ImClone before a hearing that featured family members of cancer patients who died while waiting for the company to grant them use of an experimental drug.
Klain and his firm were paid $40,000 to lobby for ImClone for two weeks.

Man, oh man. I knew an Obama presidency was gonna be bad, but I don’t think any of us thought it would be THIS bad. I told y’all I called my parents bawling like a baby for comfort when Obama was re-elected.
Sooo, we have a new Ebola “Czar” who has NO medical back-ground.
Super! I can’t help but think about Ann Coulter’s quote, “If Obama were born in another country, had no love for this country and had set out to destroy America — what would he be doing differently?”
The CDC admitted on the 7th that Ebola could be transmitted via airborne exchange, and I’M A FLIPPIN’ COUNTRY HOUSEWIFE AND I CALLED IT ON THE 6TH! What is wrong with this picture?
I think we have all come to the conclusion that Obama is not just INEPT, it is much more sinister than that. Did you know that visa extensions from West African countries have actually been expedited since August by the Department of “Homeland Security”?
Get a load of this exchange from Thursday between Cory Gardner and CDC Director Dr. Tom Frieden:

Gardner: “I think you mentioned there were approximately 100 to 150 people a day coming into the United States from the infected areas?”
FRIEDEN: That’s my understanding, yes.
GARDNER: Mr. Wagner you admitted we’re screening 94 percent of those people?
WAGNER: As of today that covers about 94 percent.
GARDNER: So if 94 percent are being covered, that means somewhere between two and three thousand people a year are coming into this country without being screened from the infected areas?
WAGNER: Well, they would undergo a different form of screening. We’re still going to identify that they’ve been to one of those three affected regions, and we’re still going to ask them questions about their itinerary. We’re going to be alert to any overt signs of illness and coordinate with CDC and public health if they’re sick, and we’re also going to give them a fact sheet about Ebola, about the symptoms, what to watch for, and most importantly, who to contact?
GARDNER: Will you be checking their temperature?
WAGNER: We will not be checking their temperatures or having them fill out a contact sheet.
GARDNER: There’s 2,000 to 3,000 people their — entering this country a year without checking their temperature, without having a contact sheet.(1)

I nominate Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Eric Holder, Hillary Clinton, and Lois Lerner as first responders/greeting committee to all suspected ebola patients entering the U.S. Yeah, they can meet the out-of-towners with an intimate kiss, a warm embrace, and breathe deeply in their presence, extending American hospitality.
Then we’ll see if Obama still says the ebola virus is “not easy to catch.”
