Chuck Hagel: Trump 'an embarrassment'

(CNN )Former Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel called President Donald Trump "an embarrassment" and said he "is doing great damage to our country internationally" in a newspaper interview Saturday.

Hagel's remarks come amid uproar over Trump's reported remarks during a closed-door immigration meeting with lawmakers last week, during which he is said to have called certain African countries "shitholes."

Hagel, a former Nebraska Republican senator and decorated Vietnam veteran, said in an interview with the Lincoln Journal Star that the United States and the world have entered "a defining year, a year of volatility and uncertainty and great danger."

Trump is "intentionally dividing the country and the world" by pulling out of alliances and trade deals such as the Trans-Pacific Partnership, he said.

Hagel, who served as secretary of defense under former President Barack Obama, said in addition to withdrawing from the world, Trump's attacks on the intelligence community are also damaging. The country has "a President who minimizes his own intelligence community, and that is quite astounding," he said.

On the matter of North Korea's nuclear weapons program, Hagel encouraged dialogue and said demanding preconditions before entering negotiations is likely not to lead to engagement.

"'My button is bigger than yours' is irresponsible kind of talk," he said, referring to Trump's recent tweets taunting North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Hagel added that a nuclear confrontation would be "worse than anything we've ever seen."
US foreign policy at this time is "a policy of disunity," Hagel told the newspaper. "A new world order is being built and shaped right now and the last time that happened, America led."

Trump is not an embarrassment. Only an ole has been globalist socialist "new world order" advocate like Chuck Hagel would even think such a ridiculous thing. I never understood Republicans who liked Hagel, thought McCain was a "maverick" and think Nixon got what he deserved.

"A new world order is being built and shaped right now and the last time that happened, America led."

Yes, that's right, and Trump is undoing this dangerous and absurd Bush NWO. Sure that's going to piss off a bunch of countries who have been sucking on the US and bleeding US dry as a bone for deacdes. That's not an easy thing to turn around, most people thought it was too late and impossible, and while very late in the game of this disaster, those of us who understand the cause of the demise which is bad policies, also understand and have for decades that if you reverse the policies that caused the disaster, Americans will fix it to our benefit.

Sure that's going to upset the other players in the NWO, but why do we care? We're an independent sovereign nation with the inalienable right to defend our people, protect our economy and choose to engage in international affairs that benefit rather than harm our own interests.

Trump is proving to the world how quickly and "bigly" the American People can fix our country when our government hands us back our rights, authorities and freedoms to do so.

Americans need to remember what actually made this country great. It wasn't religion (Conservatives), it wasn't government (DemoQuacks), it was freedom (Republicans).
