Chris Christie Becomes Hurricane Sandy Historical Revisionist

Following Hurricane Sandy, a huge bill was drafter called the Hurricane Sandy Relief bill which was full of wasteful spending and pet projects. To refresh your memory, the New York Post reported,

The pork-barrel feast includes more than $8 million to buy cars and equipment for the Homeland Security and Justice departments. It also includes a whopping $150 million for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to dole out to fisheries in Alaska and $2 million for the Smithsonian Institution to repair museum roofs in DC.

An eye-popping $13 billion would go to “mitigation” projects to prepare for future storms.

Other big-ticket items in the bill include $207 million for the VA Manhattan Medical Center; $41 million to fix up eight military bases along the storm’s path, including Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; $4 million for repairs at Kennedy Space Center in Florida; $3.3 million for the Plum Island Animal Disease Center and $1.1 million to repair national cemeteries.

Budget watchdogs have dubbed the 94-page emergency-spending bill “Sandy Scam.”
Speaker John Boehner, to his miserable credit, pulled the bill due to these kinds of things in it.

Does anyone remember how New Jersey Governor Chris Christie responded? He held a press conference to blast Boehner for pulling the bill, which was a huge waste of taxpayer money.

“There is only one group to blame for the continued suffering of these innocent victims, the House majority and their Speaker John Boehner,” Christie said.
During his entire 38 minutes of blasting Congress, he never mentioned the waste built into the bill until a reporter finally questioned him about it (around the 27 minute mark).

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie didn't hold back Wednesday afternoon when calling out fellow Republicans in the continued fight to secure more federal aid for the victims of Superstorm Sandy.

"There's only one group to blame for the continued suffering of these innocent victims — the House majority and their speaker John Boehner," Christie said.

Christie, upset by how many days it has taken for lawmakers in Washington to act, called the decision by GOP leadership to end its term without approving the $60.4 billion bill "disappointing and disgusting to watch."

While Christie berated a bill full of waste, there was finally a Sandy Relief package, worth $51 billion, passed on January 15, following a bill to replenish the federal government’s flood insurance fund (another wasteful, welfare program).

My criticism was after they did not pass the GOP version of the bill without the pork in last Congress,” posted on Twitter yesterday.
He also said that Breitbart’s Joel Pollak was “dead wrong” when he confronted him on his revisionism.

Guess he still wants the big pork barrel pig to be passed instead of going with a line item veto so the money goes to the actual people affected by the storm... Not the pork barrel waste projects that the greedy politicians want for themselves.. The people of that State and New York are still out of their homes and very little has been done for them yet....Well there still waiting...Chris Christie. What ya been doing?????
