‘That’s a Lie & the American People Know it!’ Andrea Mitchell Walks Into Another Debate Unprepared

Although we’re trying our hardest to avoid another Elizabeth Warren situation (i.e. a situation where we write almost a dozen stories about the same person because we find them outrageously amusing), we’d be remiss if we denied you these three minutes from Friday’s broadcast of “Andrea Mitchell Reports.” Judging by how the following video plays out, we going to go ahead and say she didn’t learn anything from her Tuesday encounter with former New Hampshire Governor John Sununu.
Seriously, if you’re going to challenge a conservative (or any politician for that matter) on financial issues, we strongly suggest you research the topic beforehand and not rely on notes in front of you as you go along.“We need less burdens, less regulation, less taxation on America so you can unleash the American people,” said Virginia Republican Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli while discussing President Obama’s plan to allow the Bush-era tax cuts to expire for anyone making more than $250,000 a year
“This president keeps talking about more regulations, more taxation, more uncertainty, for the people who make the decisions that help create jobs in the private sector, which is where we need to create them and not in government,” Cuccinelli added, most likely referring to President Obama’s “the private sector is doing fine” comment.
Mitchell challenged his claim that the president’s proposal to allow the Bush-era tax cuts to expire for anyone making more than $250,000 would be detrimental to the middle-class.
“Of course, their argument is that only two or three percent of the people would be affected by the, uh, middle-class tax cut,” she said and then paused. “But, uh, being imposed, would, uh, be involved so that it would not actually affect those who are creating jobs.”
Cuccinelli, like Sununu, found it difficult to keep a straight face.“Well, small business owners, for instance –” he started.
“The people at the $250,000 level, they say, you know,” Mitchell interjected, “it’s law firms, it’s not really small businesses that would be affected.”
“Oh, gimme’ a break!” Cuccinelli shot back, “C’mon! That’s a lie and the American people know it. That’s just absolutely not true and the American people reject this class warfare approach anyway.”.
Depending on your political persuasion, the following video is either hilarious or painful [via MSNBC]:

Not long after Cuccinell’s decision to challenge her counterargument with the word “lie,” Mitchell changed the subject entirely.
