The Dismal Track Record of a Key Figure Pushing the Scary New Climate Change Report — Obama’s Dr. Doom

Human activities = more life-choking carbon dioxide = disastrous global climate change = floods, droughts, wildfires, extreme weather events in ever-greater numbers and worsening intensity. Essentially, that’s the conclusion of the massive new White House report on climate change that’s just been released (and embraced by all the usual suspects in the Obama-loving media).
The National Climate Assessment paints a dire picture of an unhappy future unless drastic measures are taken to curb the nasty, awful, bad stuff mankind is doing to the planet. Of course, President Obama has an “action plan” to save the day — a plan that involves all sorts of new regulations and restrictions that critics charge will severely damage an already fragile economy without making any real difference in the environment.
So, who’s behind this Obama “action plan”? Could it be the president’s Science Czar, John Holdren? Why, yes, it’s Holdren, Obama’s Chief Advisor on Science and Technology, who narrates the video on whitehouse.gov that summarizes the report.
As you consider the conclusions and recommendations of this report and its potential for disrupting the U.S. economy, you have to understand who John Holdren is. And why you might want to take what he says and believes with a semi-truck-load of salt.
Holdren has been spewing all sorts of dire warnings and perilous predictions for decades. He has many critics and detractors who point out the flaws in his “science” and the errors in his forecasts of doom and gloom.
One especially compelling critic is a former colleague, Steven Mosher. In a lengthy debunking of Holdren’s “science”, Mosher describes Holdren’s “Chicken Little” warnings about world population, expressed in a book co-authored with population bombster Paul Erlich. Says Mosher:

Their solution, if you can believe it, was to make everyone poor. They argued that the West should be “de-developed,” by which they meant that countries like the U.S. should have their economies deliberately dismantled and their wealth redistributed to the poor at home and abroad.

Published in 2009, the unrelenting Mosher critique of Obama’s Dr. Doom is an even more frightening read than the new climate report. It describes a big-government mega-statist, Holdren, intent on dismantling and downsizing American industry and markets. Mosher concludes:

What Obama’s new Science Czar really is, is a professional doomsayer along the lines of his mentor, Paul Ehrlich. He has prophesied one end-of-the-world scenario after another to advance his scientific career. He has been, one must admit, rather spectacularly successful at this, and now has the ear of the U.S. President. But he has been consistently wrong on the facts. And the fear mongering that he habitually engages in gives science, and scientists, a bad name.

Great. Now here comes John Holdren with his latest sweeping prophecy, and it appears to resonate with far too many of the gullible in Washington and beyond.
