ABC reportedly looking to reboot 'Roseanne' with focus on Sara Gilbert

ABC is reportedly looking into rebooting "Roseanne," but this time the series will be focused on Sara Gilbert.

According to TMZ, ABC is seeing if there is a possibility of "re-branding the show and focusing on" Gilbert's character, Darlene Conner, rather than Roseanne.

Fox News has reached out to ABC for comment.

TMZ reports that Gilbert has been contacting her "Roseanne" cast members to see how much interest they have in a potential reboot just in case the network moves forward.

One person who may be onboard is John Goodman. Goodman, who plays Roseanne's husband and Gilbert's father on the comedy, is reportedly "very interested."

Gilbert and Goodman's reps did not immediately return Fox News' requests for comment.

From Roseanne to President Donald Trump a look at some famous faces who have been fired over offensive comments.

In addition, Tom Werner, the producer behind "Roseanne," is also involved in the reboot efforts, reports TMZ.

"Roseanne" was canceled on Tuesday just hours after star Roseanne Barr posted a racist tweet about former President Obama's aide Valerie Jarrett.

ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey said in a statement on Tuesday that the network would not be producing the show's second season.

"Roseanne's Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show," Dungey told Fox News. (edited)

The news came after Barr went into emergency damage-control mode following a politically charged tweet she sent linking Chelsea Clinton to liberal donor George Soros and a racially charged tweet saying Jarrett, who is African-American and born in Iran, is like the "muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby.

Hey ABC, you "reboot" the whole damn show and the whole damn cast including Roseanne. You pick up that ball where you two-faced goons dropped it and you uncancel the show you should have never ever canceled to begin with. You're part of our press, you're part of our "culture", all of which is based on free speech. Roseanne made a terrible mistake, but it was her personal mistake, it was on her own time, on her personal twitter in the wee hours of the AM, and yes, she might have been on medication including Ambien which we know makes people do and say strange things. A Kennedy on Ambien sleep-walked and drove his car into a concrete barrier in DC at 3 am in the morning for heavens sake.

Now restore the whole show and do it quick. Fall will be here soon for the second season. No, you can not replace Roseanne with Sara Gilbert. She isn't funny, she's funny only because Roseanne is funny in their skits. Don't you people know anything any more??!!

GEEZ. GET R DONE. HURRY HURRY ZOOM ZOOM!!

I'd like someone like Fox to take over the show. I remember when NBC dumped the original Star Trek. When Gene Roddenberry proposed "Star Trek: Next Generation", he wouldn't talk to the major networks, but went to independents. Like Roseanne, the ratings on that independent network trounced all the major networks in ratings for the first time. Gene Roddenberry laughed all the way to the bank.
