YOU CAN KEEP THE "CHANGE"

In the world of presidential politics, presidential candidates, as is obvious, spend most of their time making speeches. Of course, as a result of these speeches, they hope to gain the support of the general electorate by promising everything in this world, including the kitchen sink. But, basically, they promote peace and prosperity through the change of the status quo, which can be seen in the campaign slogans that they used over the years.

Some modern examples are:

Jimmy Carter (1977-1981): “A Leader, For a Change”

Ronald Reagan1981-1989): “It’s Morning Again in America”

George Bush(1989-1993): “Kinder, Gentler Nation”

Bill Clinton (1993-2001): “Putting People First”

George W. Bush (2001-2005): “Compassionate Conservatism”

George W. Bush (2005-2009): “Yes, America Can”

However, despite the slogans used by these former Presidents of the United States, many people would utterly declare that these campaign promises were not kept by these political persuaders. But, whether these former presidents kept their campaign promises or not, one thing is for sure, the current President of the United States, Barack Hussein Obama, has kept his campaign slogan, which is “We Believe in Change.” He has definitely changed America. Needless to say, though, his change to America far surpasses what most Americans who voted for him expected. In fact, he did not “tweak” America’s constitutional republic as his followers expected, but, instead, he has redefined America as a European-style, socialist nation.

Ultimately, what background training was used by President Obama to deceive the masses who love their freedoms and rights to elect a man to the Office of the President of the United States, whose obvious goal is to deny them their freedoms and rights? Simply speaking, the easiest way to describe President Obama’s background is to research the man who has become the driving force in his life. Of course, this man is not the man that most people would expect. It is not the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, even though he has definitely influenced President Obama. The man who has influenced President Obama more than anyone else was Saul Alinsky, a Marxist community organizer.

Of course, everyone knows that President Obama was a community organizer in Chicago before he got into politics. In fact, a statement by Mr. Alinsky’s own son gives credence to this political premise. According to L. David Alinsky, “Obama learned his lesson well. I am proud to see that my father's model for organizing is being applied successfully beyond local community organizing to affect the Democratic campaign in 2008. It is a fine tribute to Saul Alinsky as we approach his 100th birthday.” (1) Therefore, if Obama learned his lesson well and his teacher was a Marxist, the logical conclusion is that freedom-loving Americans were deceived by a Marxist to elect him to the Office of the President of the United States. In fact, Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich recently made a similar statement about President Obama. He said, “I believe in the Constitution, I believe in the Federalist Papers. Obama believes in Saul Alinsky and secular European socialist bureaucracy.” (2) Hence, if what Gingrich said is true, America has the perfect person in the executive office to lead it toward socialism. However, only God knows what could be down the road and around the corner awaiting Americans if President Obama is elected to another 4-year term.

Now, since it is obvious that President Obama was influenced by Saul Alinsky, it is very important to know more about the man who influenced President Obama, in order for all Americans to get into the psyche of the President who may ultimately destroy America from within. Of course, the best method to learn about Saul Alinsky is to discuss parts of his 1971 book entitled Rules for Radicals. In fact, the opening page dedication should present the crux and truth of the matter. It reads, “Lest we forget at least an over-the-shoulder acknowledgment to the very first radical: from all our legends, mythology, and history... the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom — Lucifer.” (1) Therefore, as written in John 8:32, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” As a result, based just on the dedication, the rest of Rules for Radicals must proclaim an ideology that would be harmful if applied to a nation’s political structure. Sadly, this Marxist book has become America’s new political guide. Prayerfully, the next political guide will not be the Communist Manifesto.

Why did Mr. Alinsky write Rules for Radicals? According to the Prologue, it was written for the following reason: “The Revolutionary force today has two targets, moral as well as material. Its young protagonists are one moment reminiscent of the idealistic early Christians, yet they also urge violence and cry, 'Burn the system down!' They have no illusions about the system, but plenty of illusions about the way to change our world.” (1) Therefore, radicals need to know how to infiltrate the system before they can change the system. As a result, radicals must first begin their journey of revolution by getting involved in local communities and organize them for action without them knowing the intent of the organizers. The solution, according to Alinsky, is “concerned with how to create mass organizations to seize power and give it to the people; to realize the democratic dream of equality, justice, peace....” (1) This is the reason “Radicals must be resilient, adaptable to shifting political circumstances, and sensitive enough to the process of action and reaction to avoid being trapped by their own tactics and forced to travel a road not of their choosing.” (1) Ultimately, a “Marxist begins with his prime truth that all evils are caused by the exploitation of the proletariat by the capitalists. From this he logically proceeds to the revolution to end capitalism, then into the third stage of reorganization into a new social order of the dictatorship of the proletariat, and finally the last stage -- the political paradise of communism.” (1) Evidently, since capitalism has been attacked greatly since Obama became President, America might just be in stage two of a radical takeover of America. But, do Americans really want stages two, three, and four to be successful in the United States?

Of course, most American do not want capitalism to be replaced by socialism and or communism. But, once the process of power has gained control of a community or a government, it might just be too late. As Mr. Alinsky stated in Rules for Radicals,

From the moment the organizer enters a community he lives, dreams... only one thing and that is to build the mass power base of what he calls the army. Until he has developed that mass power base, he confronts no major issues.... Until he has those means and power instruments, his 'tactics' are very different from power tactics. Therefore, every move revolves around one central point: how many recruits will this bring into the organization, whether by means of local organizations, churches, service groups, labor unions, corner gangs, or as individuals. (1)


Ultimately, Mr. Alinsky believed that “change comes from power, and power comes from organization.” (1) Have you heard the word “change” mentioned repeatedly during the 2008 Presidential Election? Has “change” occurred in the last four years? Is America drowning in this “change?” Does America need another change in the Office of the President? Needless to say, the answer to all these questions is a resounding “YES!”


As is obvious, President Obama has the qualities of a good community organizer and a person who can bring about “change.” Therefore, what type of qualities did Saul Alinsky look for in a good community organizer? First, there is the quality of Ego (“reaching for the highest level for which man can reach — to create, to be a ‘great creator,’ to play God”) (1) An example of President Obama’s Ego can be found on page 160 of his book entitled The Audacity of Hope.


According to President Obama, “I find comfort in the fact that the longer I’m in politics the less nourishing popularity becomes, that a striving for power and rank and fame seems to betray a poverty of ambition, and that I am answerable mainly to the steady gaze of my own conscience.”

Of course, as is implied, he thinks highly of himself and does not depend on God for guidance. As a result, President Obama possibly displays the characteristics of a person who has too much negative pride, too, which is synonymous with Ego. In fact, Webster’s Dictionary and several other Bible Dictionaries give the characteristics of this kind of pride.


They are as follows:An unduly high opinion of oneselfExaggerated self-esteem, conceitHaughty behavior resulting from arroganceAn improper and excessive self-esteem known as conceit and arroganceA sin of attitude and of the heart and spiritA puffed up and inflated egoBoasting and high-mindednessA conceited sense of one’s superiorityHighly exalted in attitude, opposite from the virtue of humility (4)

Therefore, based on articles that journalists have written about President Obama as they traveled with him for over three years, he is an extremely narsarcistic, egotistical, and proud man. In other words, he is the epitome of a Saul Alinsky community organizer who just happened to be elected to the Office of the President of the United States.

Second, there is the quality of Irreverence (“nothing is sacred”; the organizer “detests dogma, defies any finite definition of morality”) (1) Unfortunately, there are a myriad of examples of President Obama’s irreverence toward Christians.


According to David Barton of WallBuilders, President Obama is the most Biblically-hostile President that America has ever had. Some of his many quotes are as follows:

April 2008 – Obama speaks disrespectfully of Christians, saying they “cling to guns or religion” and have an “antipathy to people who aren't like them.”

February 2009 – Obama announces plans to revoke conscience protection for health workers who refuse to participate in medical activities that go against their beliefs, and fully implements the plan in February 2011.

April 2009 – When speaking at Georgetown University, Obama orders that a monogram symbolizing Jesus’ name be covered when he is making his speech.

May 2009 – Obama declines to host services for the National Prayer Day (a day established by federal law) at the White House.

April 2009 – In a deliberate act of disrespect, Obama nominated three pro-abortion ambassadors to the Vatican; of course, the pro-life Vatican rejected all three.

October 19, 2010 – Obama begins deliberately omitting the phrase about “the Creator” when quoting the Declaration of Independence – an omission he has made on no less than seven occasions.

November 2010 – Obama misquotes the National Motto, saying it is “E pluribus unum” rather than “In God We Trust” as established by federal law.

November 2011 – Obama opposes inclusion of President Franklin Roosevelt’s famous D-Day Prayer in the WWII Memorial.

November 2011 – Unlike previous presidents, Obama studiously avoids any religious references in his Thanksgiving speech.

December 2011 – The Obama administration denigrates other countries' religious beliefs as an obstacle to radical homosexual rights.

February 2012 – The Obama administration forgives student loans in exchange for public service, but announces it will no longer forgive student loans if the public service is related to religion. (3)

Therefore, as David Barton stated, President Obama is definitely the most Biblically-hostile President that the United States of America has ever had. However, it is unimaginable that a person who claims to be a Christian would attack people who believed the same way that he supposedly does. In fact, when President Obama said that Christians “cling to guns or religion” and have an “antipathy to people who aren't like them,” he was, in actuality, talking about himself, since, once again, he says that he is a Christian. Evidently, when it comes to Christianity, President Obama sees nothing as sacred. Also, apparently, he hates the dogma of the Christian Church. Ultimately, he defies the Christian definition of morality. Of course, this is exactly what Saul Alinsky demanded of those who would accept his ideology.

In Part I of “You Can Keep the Change,” the first two qualities of a good community organizer and a person who can bring about “change” were discussed. Now, let’s continue our discussion of qualities three through five and other thoughts about President Obama and his association with Saul Alinsky.

Third, there is the quality of Imagination (“the fuel for the force that keeps an organizer organizing”) [1] An example of President Obama’s Imagination can be seen in his 2012 State of the Union Address. In fact, according to President Obama himself.

Think about the America within our reach. A country that leads the world in educating its people. An America that attracts a new generation of high-tech manufacturing and high-paying jobs. A future where we’re in control of our own energy, and our security and prosperity aren’t so tied to unstable parts of the world. An economy built to last, where hard work pays off, and responsibility is rewarded.

Therefore, it is obvious that he meets the criteria for the definition of Imagination, since his imagination definitely fuels his will to create an utopia in America. However, without God as the foundation for his utopia, he will never succeed. It has been attempted by humanists for centuries, but none of these so-called man-made utopias have ever lasted very long. Sinful men cannot create a perfect society, but they still imagine that they can. Fourth, there is the quality of having a sense of humor (“the most potent weapons known to mankind are satire and ridicule”) According to CBS News in a March 2010 article entitled “Obama’s Surprising Sense of Humor,” President Obama definitely has a sense of humor. His Sense of Humor is “mordant, self-deprecating, deeply ironic.”[2] In other words, his Sense of Humor is sarcastic, apologetic, and mocking, as can be seen in the following examples:

In an interview, he complained of the “shine police,” aides who follow him around to pat him with TV makeup.

In his State of the Union speech, he called the bank bailout “as popular as a root canal.” He suggested monthly meetings with congressional leaders, adding archly, “I know you can't wait.”

At a New Hampshire town meeting, he faulted Republicans for slamming the government stimulus package and then praising the hometown projects that it financed. “They've found a way to have their cake - and vote against it, too,” he said.

During a college basketball game, the left-handed Obama told an interviewer he met with House Republicans “to prove that I could go to my right once in a while.”

Praising high-speed rail, he noted its less-stringent-than-airport security: “You don't have to take off your shoes. Right? Check to see if you're wearing the socks with no holes in them.”[2]

Ultimately, as stated by Mr. Smith, “Does Barack Obama have a funny bone? The president certainly doesn't seem to see himself as a natural comic. But more often than he gets credit for, he flashes a sharp and wry humor. It's an important component of his style, helping to humanize an otherwise detached persona in ways that could prove valuable in the political wars ahead.” Of course, this means that President Oabma does have another of Saul Alinsky’s qualities needed to be a “rebel with a cause.”

Finally, there is the quality of “an organized personality with confidence in presenting the right reason for his actions only “as a moral rationalization after the right end has been achieved.”

According to Alinsky,

With very rare exceptions, the right things are done for the wrong reasons. It is futile to demand that men do the right thing for the right reason - this is a fight with windmill. An organizer should know and accept that the right reason is only introduced as a moral rationalization after the right end has been achieved, although it may have been achieved for the wrong reason - therefore he should search for and use the wrong reasons to achieve the right goals. He should be able, with skill and calculation, to use irrationality in his attempts to progress toward a rational world.[3]

Ultimately, when Marist Saul Alinsky stated that a good organizer “should be able, with skill and calculation, to use irrationality in his attempts to progress toward a rational world,” he was unknowingly at the time describing President Barack Obama, who was one of his prime pupils. Also, it is obvious that, based on the manner in which President Obama is attempting to redefine America as a socialist nation, he is using many irrational, idealistic methods to create a rational, governemnt-controlled nation where everyone is equal, equal, equal.

Therefore, since President does display the true qualities of a “changer,” as stated by Saul Alinsky, what tactics does he have at his command to use. But, first, before looking at the type tactics President Obama could use, there must be a definition of “tactics.” According to Alinsky, “tactics are those conscious deliberate acts by which human beings live with each other and deal with the world around them.”[1] Of course, as stated by Alinsky, “our concern is with the tactic of taking; how the Have-Nots can take power away from the Haves.”[1] As a result, other “tactics” used by community organizers and also government “changers” should be viewed.

They are as follows:1. Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have.2. Never go outside the expertise of your people. When an action or tactic is outside the experience of the people, the result is confusion, fear and retreat.... [and] the collapse of communication.3. Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy. Look for ways to increase insecurity, anxiety and uncertainty. (This happens all the time. Watch how many organizations under attack are blind-sided by seemingly irrelevant arguments that they are then forced to address.)4. Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules. You can kill them with this, for they can no more obey their own rules than the Christian church can live up to Christianity.5. Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. It is almost impossible to counteract ridicule. Also it infuriates the opposition, which then reacts to your advantage.6. A good tactic is one your people enjoy.7. A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag. Man can sustain militant interest in any issue for only a limited time....8. Keep the pressure on, with different tactics and actions, and utilize all events of the period for your purpose.9. The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.10. The major premise for tactics is the development of operations that will maintain a constant pressure upon the opposition. It is this unceasing pressure that results in the reactions from the opposition that are essential for the success of the campaign.[1]

In the end, based on what is happening in the United States government today, President Obama is using most, if not all, of the aforementioned tactics to “change” America from a freedom-loving, constitutional republic to a socialist, government-controlled state. Ultimately, the spirit of Saul Alinsky is alive and well in President Obama, one of his prime students, and the Democratic Party, which has drifted too far to the left of the political center.

Therefore, in conclusion, President Obama has actually achieved the major objective of Saul Alinsky, as written in his Rules of Radicals. As stated by Alinsky,
The organizer’s first job is to create the issues or problems,’ and ‘organizations must be based on many issues.’ The organizer ‘must first rub raw the resentments of the people of the community; fan the latent hostilities of many of the people to the point of overt expression. He must search out controversy and issues, rather than avoid them, for unless there is controversy people are not concerned enough to act. . . . An organizer must stir up dissatisfaction and discontent.[1]

Of course, it is obvious that President Obama and his Democratic cohorts have been successful in their effort to change America by the Alinsky-style.. Prayerfully, though, Americans of both parties would finally realize, before it is too late, that President Barack Hussein Obama does not have the greatness of America as his driving force in his political agenda. Inevitably, the driving force in his life is fulling the Marxist ideology of Saul Alinsky in the United States of America and changing America so that its Founding Fathers would not recognize it. Hence, the mandate that the majority of Americans would send to President Obama, since they finally know the truth of the matter NOW, is that YOU CAN KEEP THE “CHANGE.”

P.S. This article was inspired by a bumper sticker. It read, “I’ll keep my guns, freedom, and money…YOU CAN KEEP THE “CHANGE!”
