The scorched earth left by the 111th Congress has eviscerated what little trust there was for all but a very few in Congress

Eagerly awaiting January 5th!

Following the euphoria of November 2nd, the lame-duck session of the 111th Congress was very deflating. It is obvious that too many in both parties of Congress refuse to hear the voice of the people. With the TEA Party reinforcements crossing the Potomac to take their oaths of office on January 5th, for the first time in almost two decades, average Americans may have people in place to represent them, not repress them! It bodes well for a Happy New Year!

I would like to suggest that each member of the TEA Party, and the overall Congress, invest in a book entitled, ‘The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership,’ written by John Maxwell. I believe the three most important ‘Laws’ discussed in this book are: 1) The Law of the Lid, 2) The Law of Solid Ground, and 3) The Law of Empowerment.

‘The Law of the Lid’ addresses the fact that a person’s leadership ability determines his/her level of effectiveness. A leader can only attract those who rise to his/her level and below. The higher the level of leadership, the level of effectiveness grows exponentially. Unfortunately, for many in Congress, effectiveness is based upon ramming abhorrent legislation upon a resistant citizenry. Authentic leadership leads to mutually beneficial effectiveness, so let’s hope and pray that the TEA Party members in Congress respond by acting as authentic leaders.

The scorched earth left by the 111th Congress has eviscerated what little trust there was for all but a very few in Congress. ‘The Law of Solid Ground’ addresses the fact that trust is the foundation of leadership, genuine leadership. With the new energy in Congress, the number one action the TEA Party members need to adopt is taking their oaths of office to heart, acting in a manner that instills trust within those of us who sent them to office to represent us.

The third law, ‘The Law of Empowerment,’ is crucial for our long-term security and survival. This law addresses the fact that only those leaders who are secure in themselves can pass power to others. Lifetime politicians, Progressives, Bilderbergers, Socialists, etc., exhibit the polar opposite of this law. Genuine public service is best exhibited by allowing, even encouraging, the personal growth of all citizens within the country. It also allows for the routine transition of those in leadership, with new energy and ideas, not the staid, stagnant and selfish accumulation of power by a ‘selective’ few.

We have many significant challenges that demand elevated levels of leadership for our freedoms and quality of life to endure. By acting ethically, morally and under our Constitution, the tent of the TEA Party can be expanded to engulf those who cherish our God-given and Constitutional freedoms. Let’s hope the ‘traditional’ Republicans will keep their egos in check, opting to recognize the raw leadership embodied by those within the TEA Party who have made it possible for the GOP to make historic gains at all levels of government. With the swearing in of the 112th Congress, everyone is on probation.

The movie, ‘The Sound of Music’ offers a gentle reminder of how a country can lose its identity and freedoms when its citizens are apathetic and resigned to being dominated. We shouldn’t have to steal away into the night because those who wish to repress us are allowed to dominate our White House, Congress and federal agencies. What is worse than one king or queen in a distant land dictating to his/her subjects is having 537 politicians acting like kings and queens. Let’s support those who are truly in office to protect our freedoms, so that we can pass our freedoms onto our children and grandchildren. Happy New Year, and may it be a prosperous year for all in every aspect of one’s life!
