Hon Hai Signs Cooperation Agreement With US Funds, Tech Firms

TAIPEI -(Dow Jones)- Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. (2317.TW) said Thursday it signed cooperation agreements on integrated circuit design, cloud computing and wireless and solar technology with several U.S.-based venture capital and technology firms.

Under the agreements, the U.S. firms will provide technology, while Hon Hai, the world's largest contract electronics maker by revenue, will handle manufacturing.

Hon Hai said in a statement the U.S. companies involved include Santa Barbara, California-based venture capital fund New Enterprise Associates Inc. and Menlo Park, California-based funds ONSET Ventures and DCM.

It said the cooperation will also involve SiBeam Inc., a fab-less semiconductor company; ENOVIX Corp., a developer of rechargeable batteries; and Splashtop Inc., a developer of remote desktop solutions.

Hon Hai assembles products for large U.S. companies including Apple Inc. and Dell Inc.
