Euro Chief - UK to give up Pound for Euro

UK WILL AXE POUND SAYS MR EURO

    Saturday June 9,2012
    By Martyn Brown

    Eurozone chief Jean-Claude Juncker

BRITAIN will eventually join the euro...that was the bizarre prediction yesterday from eurozone chief Jean-Claude Juncker.

The president of Luxembourg – known as Mr Euro – also claimed that the zone would emerge “stronger than ever” from its current crisis.

He said: “The moment will come when the United Kingdom, after looking at reality, will say to itself that it is better to be in the essential machine of Europe than to sit in the stand watching the action.”

Mr Juncker, president of Eurogroup, an informal caucus of euro finance ministers, the European Commission and the European Central Bank, added: “I have always believed that, in spite of occasional bitterness, the European Union without Britain is no longer the European Union.

“For strictly national reasons and not out of any continental romanticism, the United Kingdom will become a member of the eurozone.” But his prediction provoked scorn in Britain yesterday.

Ukip MEP Paul Nuttall, said: “One has to admire Mr Juncker’s faith in the European project, if not his good sense.

“They say a definition of madness is believing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

He added: “Britain is well out of it and, as he surveys the ruins of his dreams, Britain will stay out of it.”

Tory MP Philip Davies said: “The euro is over, it cannot be fixed.

“The sooner they accept that the better.”

Mr Juncker, 57, has been president of the Eurogroup since 2005.

Right. The EU has done so much for Britain. Massive immigration, with immigrants taking jobs from native Britains. Britain possibly now the closest European country to falling under a Muslim Caliphate (at least they will have one of the largest mosques in the world...why didn't they spare Big Ben and call the mosque the Elizabeth Tower?). Loss of basic rights and freedoms in GB, especially with regards to free speech. And if the Brits were on the Euro now instead of the British Pound they would be in an even bigger world of hurt. Yep, I see them climbing on board. Actually, I don't. What I think is going to happen is that the 80% of the British who want a referendum, after looking at the reality of what the EU is and is doing to them, will get their vote, and they will vote to leave the EU. Remember, GB was one of the last western European countries to join the European Common Market, and that was because of an innate distrust of what that trade alliance might do to them. The EU is far worse. While Eurozone chief Jean-Claude Juncker may believe that it is better to be in the essential machine of Europe than to sit in the stand watching the action., he should also remember that it is usually wiser to grab a serviceable lifeboat than to go down with the ship while ensnared in its essential machine.
