Feds Bust Drug Ring That Smuggled Crystal Meth, Marijuana From Mexico to U.S.

PHILADELPHIA — U.S. and New Jersey authorities say they've broken up a network that brought marijuana and crystal meth from Mexico to southern New Jersey.

By Friday morning, 28 people had been arrested in New Jersey and Ohio.

Authorities say the drugs moved from the southern Mexico state of Jalisco to McAllen, Texas.

They say the marijuana was usually mailed from there to various people scattered around southern New Jersey, and that the meth was smuggled to Columbus, Ohio, and then driven to Hammonton, New Jersey, to be distributed.

Authorities say the group brought about 4 pounds to 6 pounds of meth and 100 pounds to 150 pounds of marijuana to New Jersey weekly.

They say the drugs were sold in homes and bars or delivered to buyers.
