ENSEN~ADA – A former police official suspected of running an organized crime ring was arrested in an Enseñada mansion during an early morning police raid, Mexican authorities said Saturday.
Rosario Flores Rojas, who at one time was deputy director of the Enseñada Municipal Police, was wanted on federal kidnapping and organized crime charges, said Agustin Perez, a spokesman for the Baja California Public Safety Secretariat.
Advertisement Authorities said Flores Rojas is one of several former policemen who call themselves the Black Commandos, a group specializing in kidnappings and drug trafficking for the Arellano-Felix drug cartel.
Nine other suspected members were recently sentenced to prison for their participation, Perez said.
At 4 a.m. Saturday, officers with the state police and Army special forces raided the home in the Colonia Benito Juarez section of the city and found Flores Rojas alone.
Also seized were about a thousand psychotropic pills being sold for $20 each, a .9mm gun, tactical gear and bullets.
