    FREE Top-Rated Software

In these times, I know budgets are tight. I usually check out download.com and cnet.com for FREE high quality software. Here are some you might want to consider:

    PDF viewer
    AVG Free 8.5
    Smart Defrag
    Burn Aware Free
    Threatfire
    7 Zip File Manager
    Revo Uninstaller

and for those who want to know what's up with our military, you can download free e-papers from this site below. I download the Japan edition daily.

Update Checker is another excellent program. It checks your computer to determine whether the software on it is current and if not, provides a direct link.

The programs I've listed I think are pretty good because software such as Norton (other than Ghost), McAfee, WinZip, Nero, Adobe, and other defraggers, optimizers, and registry programs are oftentimes expensive and overkill.

I personally don't care much for opinions on company websites but with CNET and DOWNLOAD, you can check ratings, and user opinions as well.

All software on Download.com has been tested to ensure it's 100% free of spyware, viruses, and other malware
