(Natural News) POTUS Donald Trump may go down in history as the U.S. president who exposed the European Union for what it has become since the end of the Cold War: A gaggle of ungrateful, Left-wing pretenders who have taken advantage of American generosity for decades.
Following in the footsteps of French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Angela Merkel is channeling her monstrous predecessor, Adolph Hitler, in calling for a European army so the European Union can fulfill his objective of conquering the continent while getting rid of the United States military presence there.
In a speech in Strasbourg, Merkel called for a “real, true” EU army in what was seen as a direct rebuke to POTUS Trump, the U.K.’s Daily Mail reported.
In addition, Merkel called for the creation of a European Security Council which would be responsible for developing and coordinating defense policy throughout the alliance.
But wait — what about NATO? Germany and most of the EU are all members. Why not just strengthen NATO? Well, Merkel explained, the new EU army would certainly work in conjunction with the longstanding alliance, adding that “only a stronger Europe is going to defend Europe.”
Continuing, Merkel declared, “Europe must take our fate into our own hands if we want to protect our community.”
Is that true, though? Hardly. NATO’s reason for existence is to defend alliance members, which is to say virtually all of the continent. It’s hard to imagine that NATO would not come to the defense of non-members like Sweden, Finland, and Norway, for that matter. (Related: Russia may have just practiced going to war with NATO.)
Just days ago, Macron made similar remarks. In an interview with Europe 1, he talked about renewed Russian aggression and POTUS Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty.
“I believe in the project of a sovereign Europe. We won’t protect Europe if we don’t decide to have a true European army,” he said, as the Daily Mail reported. “We have to have a Europe that can defend itself alone — and without only relying on the United States in a more sovereign manner.
“We should protect ourselves when it comes to China, Russia and even the United States of America,” he continued — as though the U.S. has or has ever had imperialistic designs on the European continent… like Hitler did.
    ‘Europe first?’

So, what’s going on here? What’s the deal with Macron and Merkel — and other EU leaders who will no doubt follow suit? The EU leadership and much of the European population resent the fact that POTUS Trump has called them out for taking advantage of American generosity, security, and largess for decades.
But is the president right to call out our European “allies?” In a word, yes. Here’s why:
    — POTUS has pointed out that European tariffs on American goods give an unfair advantage to the continent. He’s right, and even European think tanks admit it. “The EU is by no means the paradise for free traders that it likes to think,” said Gabriel Felbermayr, director of the Ifo Center for International Economics, a division of the Munich-based Ifo Institute.
    — Merkel is likely miffed at our president because he ‘dared’ to point out the blatant hypocrisy of a natural gas deal in the works between Germany and Russia. Fox Business reported: “Germany, one of America’s closest allies, is doubling its energy imports from Russia’s Gazprom just as the U.S. continues to spend billions of dollars to protect Germany and the rest of Europe from Russia.” The absurdity of this should be self-evident.
    — The EU is opposed to the Trump administration’s decision to back out of the horrid “nuclear deal” with Iran and is currently looking at ways around U.S. sanctions in order to continue enriching a regime that is destabilizing the Middle East.
What’s ironic here — and hypocritical — is that Merkel and Macron detest POTUS Trump’s “America first” attitude but in acting out their anger are seeking to put “Europe first.”

Merkel echoes France’s call for Europe to create its own army

German Chancellor Angela Merkel is calling for the eventual creation of a European army, echoing a suggestion by French President Emmanuel Macron that recently angered the U.S. president.
“What is really important, if we look at the developments of the past year, is that we have to work on a vision of one day creating a real, true European army,” Merkel said in a speech before the European Parliament in Strasbourg on November 13.

“A common European army would show the world that there will never again be war between European countries,” she said.
Merkel said she envisioned a European army that would function in parallel with NATO and come under a European Security Council, centralizing the continent’s defense structure.
“Europe must take our fate into our own hands if we want to protect our community,” Merkel said.
Her comments came a week after Macron called for a European army that would give Europe greater independence from the United States as well as defend the continent against such possible aggressors as Russia and China.
His comments provoked an angry response from U.S. President Donald Trump and prompted Trump to step up calls on European countries to increase their contributions to NATO.
On November 13, after returning from a visit to France where his clash with Macron featured prominently, Trump tweeted again on the subject.
“Emmanuel Macron suggests building its own army to protect Europe against the U.S., China, and Russia. But it was Germany in World Wars One & Two – How did that work out for France? They were starting to learn German in Paris before the U.S. came along. Pay for NATO or not!” Trump wrote.
Macron did not publicly respond to Trump’s latest tweet. But former U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry noted that France helped the fledgling United States win its war of independence against Britain in the 18th century and criticized Trump for “insulting our oldest ally.”
“Stop tweeting! America needs some friends,” Kerry said.
The French and German proposals to create a European army are controversial within NATO and the EU, where many member states are reluctant to give up national sovereignty on defense issues.
NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg has said “more European efforts on defense is great, but it should never undermine the strength of the transatlantic bond.”
That sentiment was echoed by U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis on November 13.
“We see NATO as the cornerstone for the protection of Europe in the security realm and we fully support nations doing more to carry the load,” Mattis said.
France has proposed the initial launch of a European intervention force backed by a small group of member states to handle crises in regions such as Africa, which could later be expanded into a European army.
Germany is critical of that proposal, however, as Macron would like to establish the new force outside the EU framework so as to involve the soon-to-depart Britain, which is a defense heavyweight within NATO.
The EU already has so-called battle groups to respond in crisis situations, though they have never been deployed.
Merkel’s speech came days after she announced that she will step down as chancellor when her current term ends.
The EU stands at a critical juncture, with Britain preparing to leave the bloc in March while populist, anti-EU forces are on the rise.
As head of the EU’s largest economy, Merkel has wielded considerable influence in the bloc during her nearly 13 years as chancellor.
But political wrangling at home has diminished her powers. Following months of infighting in her three-way coalition government and two disastrous state elections, Merkel announced on October 29 that her current term as chancellor would be her last.

European Union is starting a spy academy and other military projects

By Paul Dijks 21 November 2018

The European Union has been pushing the focus on a joint military capability after France’s beleaguered President Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel both came out in support for an EU army.
This is something that British ‘Remainers’ have denied was going to happen for years. Obviously things are in motion and on their way to fruition as the European Union is starting an EU Spy academy as well as several other military projects.
Greece will lead the new spy academy from Cyprus. The EU have said of the ‘Joint EU Intelligence School’:

“The JEIS, in collaboration with member states, NATO CoEs, Intelligence and Security Services, will provide education and training in intelligence disciplines and other specific fields to EU member states intelligence personnel.”
Germany’s Defence minister Ursula von der Leyen says: “There are steps on the way to an Army of Europeans.” Also, Jean-Claude Juncker openly said he wants a “functioning European Defence Union” by 2025 and there is a billions of euros budget reserved for it.
Nigel Farage has said the increasingly hostile tone towards America makes him wonder if the EU is launching a new Cold War.

Merkel: “Nation states must today be prepared to give up their sovereignty”

By Paul Dijks 25 November 2018

    By Jan von Uxkull-Gyllenband / shutterstock.com

No this wasn’t something Adolf Hitler said many years ago, this is what German Chancellor Angela Merkel told attendants at an event by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Berlin on Wednesday.
“In an orderly fashion of course,” Merkel went on to say. She even went so far as to condemn those in her own Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party who think Germany should withdraw from the controversial UN migration pact:
“There were [politicians]who believed that they could decide when these agreements are no longer valid because they are representing The People”.
“[But] the people are individuals who are living in a country, they are not a group who define themselves as the [German] people,” she stressed.
She has previously accused critics of the UN Global Compact for Safe and Orderly Migration of not being patriotic because, “That is not patriotism, because patriotism is when you include others in German interests and accept win-win situations”.
Her words echo recent comments by the beleaguered French President Emmanuel Macron who stated in a Remembrance Day speech that “patriotism is the exact opposite of nationalism [because]nationalism is treason,” which successfully reduced his approval rating, yet again.
Macron, who has much of his country in highly visible protests at the moment, told the Bundestag that “the Franco-German couple [has]the obligation not to let the world slip into chaos and to guide it on the road to peace”.
“Europe must be stronger… and win more sovereignty,” he went on to demand, just as Merkel has, that EU member states surrender national sovereignty to Brussels over “foreign affairs, migration, and development” as well as giving “an increasing part of our budgets and even fiscal resources”.
