Has Donald Trump Finally Beaten Barack Obama in a Poll?

    Harriet Sinclair ,NewsweekJanuary 29, 2018

President Donald Trump’s approval rating may not be reaching dizzying heights, but Americans are more satisfied with the state of the military, the economy and security than they were just one year ago, a new poll has revealed.

Gallup's Mood of the Nation survey on the state of the nation, conducted January 2 to 7 and released Monday, showed 78 percent of people were happy with the nation’s military strength and preparedness compared with just 66 percent at the end of Barack Obama’s tenure in January 2017.

The same poll, which surveyed 1,024 adults, showed 63 percent of respondents were happy with the nation’s security from terrorism compared with just 50 percent at the same time last year, and in addition Americans were also happier with the state of the country’s economy, with 58 percent this year reporting they were satisfied compared with 46 percent in January 2017.

However, the state of the nation poll showed Americans have lower satisfaction in some areas than they had in 2017. Only 45 percent of people were satisfied with the quality of the environment in the nation in 2018, compared with 52 percent in 207.

As for the role the U.S. plays in world affairs, satisfaction has fallen from 45 percent under Obama compared with 38 percent under Trump. By a small margin, Americans are also less satisfied with the acceptance of lesbian and gay people in the nation than they were last year, from 59 to 56 percent.

Several of the areas Americans were polled as being satisfied with are expected to be discussed by the president in his upcoming State of the Union address on Tuesday, The Hill reported.

The uptick in satisfaction with a number of key issues in the U.S. comes as another poll shows the president is particularly unpopular with millennials, who are even less impressed with Trump one year on than they were when he took office.

I think Trump is going to win over the millennials too in a few months when they see rising paychecks, more hours, higher wages, more promotions and more fult-time jobs with benefits. It's all coming and this group of young Americans are very bright, very driven and their chance to succeed will convert to support for Trump. Just stick to the Trump Agenda and get as much of it done as fast as possible and the millennials will change their support to Trump and Republicans.

Poll Shows Support for Trump Tax Cut Plan Growing

    By Melanie Arter | February 2, 2018 | 12:18 PM EST

(CNSNews.com) – A new poll shows support for President Donald Trump’s tax cut plan has grown since December – from 26 percent to 44 percent – a difference of 21 percentage points.

The poll by Monmouth University released on Jan. 31 found that 44 percent approve of the president’s tax cut plan while an equal amount – 44 percent – disapprove. That number increased from the month before. In December, only 26 percent approved of the tax cut plan, while 47 percent disapproved.

Furthermore, fewer people believe their tax bill will go up than felt that way when the bill was in its final legislative staged, the poll found. The results show 36 percent believe their taxes will go up, compared to 50 percent who thought their taxes would go up in December.

However, the number of people who now believe their taxes will increase – 36 percent – outnumber those who think their taxes will go down – 24 percent – or who believe their taxes will stay the same – 32 percent - under the new tax law.

As far as the president’s agenda is concerned, 37 percent say Trump’s first year agenda in focused a lot on issues that are important to average Americans, while 34 percent said it has focused a little on those issues, and 26 percent say it has not focused at all on their concerns.

Compare that to the results of polling taken in July 2017 – six months into the Trump administration, and you’ll find a slight increase. Results then showed 32 percent say the president focused a lot on the concerns of average Americans, while 31 percent said he was a little focused on their concerns, and 35 percent said he was not at all focused on these concerns.

The president’s job approval rating, meanwhile, is on an uptick. His rating now stands at 42 percent and 50 percent disapproval. That’s an increase of 10 percentage points since December when it was 32 percent approval and 56 percent disapproval.

The poll was conducted by phone from Jan. 28 to 30, 2018 with a sample of 806 adults in the U.S with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percent.
