Walberg defeats Schwarz in congressional race
Walberg defeats Schwarz in congressional race
Wire and staff reports
Former state Rep. Tim Walberg defeated freshman U.S. Rep. Joe Schwarz on Tuesday night in the hotly contested 7th Congressional District Republican primary.
Schwarz, a Battle Creek surgeon, conceded the race after 11 p.m. With 68 percent of the district's precincts reporting, Walberg had 55 percent, or 24,564 votes, to Schwarz's 45 percent, or 19,739 votes.
The contest, which has drawn national attention, represented an ideological clash between Schwarz, a moderate, and Walberg, who was one of the most conservative state lawmakers during his 16 years in the state House.

Anybody care to make a guess about which candidate George Bush supported?
Maybe things are looking up for us in November.
From Walberg's web site:
Tim Walberg believes the government has a duty to secure our borders. For our national security and sovereignty, we must demand people sign the guest book and enter our nation legally. America welcomes people from around the world to come here to work, speak English, realize their dreams, and become American.
Tim supports requiring all foreign workers to obtain a temporary, legal work permit; no amnesty for illegal immigrants. Though Tim Walberg fully appreciates the desire of the majority of immigrants to benefit from all that makes America great, yet we are a nation of laws and illegal immigrants are lawbreakers who have not earned the privileges of United States citizenship. They need to be encouraged and assisted in approaching citizenship the same way millions of legal immigrants have attained it.
Line cutting can never be accepted. Those who support amnesty for illegal immigrants, drivers’ licenses for illegal immigrants, and welfare for illegal immigrants are wrong, encourage disregard of our laws, and threaten the security of our citizens. It's like hell vomited and the Bush administration appeared.
