Our creeping tyranny

Tyranny creeps in upon us in many different guises: the charismatic leader; the disregard for law; the oppression of over-regulation; the confiscation of wealth through unjust taxes; and the burden of debt.

In 1776, the American colonies declared their independence from a nation that imposed unjust taxes on its people. Eight years of war and hardship followed. But the pain of this labor birthed a nation, the likes of which, the world had never seen before.

America, conceived in liberty and under the protection of God, came into being, not with a whimper, but with the lusty cry of freedom. She has stood proudly and brightly for the cause of liberty for the past 235 years. However, today we face a crisis such as we have never seen. the forces of tyranny stand knocking at our door, ready to rush in against all we hold dear.

Today, we face all five elements squarely in the face. Barack Obama, a charismatic but misguided man, has no respect for law or our Constitution. His whole administration sees regulation and big government as the solution to all our ills. He sees no problem with raising taxes or of putting us further into debt.

Today, on this 4th of July, the 235th anniversary of our nation’s birth, let us stand tall in the name of freedom and refuse the path offered to us. Let us embrace the burden of the more difficult path, the one strewn with hardship but trust in the helps provided by the blessings of liberty. Let us refuse the rule of men rather than the rule of law. Let us eschew the tyranny of debt and claim our birthright of freedom with both fists. Let us each involve ourselves in the political process to make the voice of We the People heard.

And finally, let us look to God as our savior and protector rather than any man, and trust in Him to lead the way.
