They still hide behind the term progressive. Self-identifying as communists or socialists would still carry a negative connotation with many voters. But the message is the same and in many ways, blatantly so.
Elizabeth Warren spoke before the leftists at the “Netroots Nation” convention in the liberal disaster that was once the economic powerhouse of Detroit on Friday.
She outlined eleven points that she labeled as “progressive values,” what it means to be a progressive. Many of these so-called values also happen to be key elements of socialism or communism; others are facilitators towards achieving the goals laid out by Karl Marx in his Communist Manifesto.
They will likely hold on to the progressive moniker for the time being, until the dilution of foreigners with their hands held out reaches sufficient levels to allow them to publicly declare that freedom in America is dead.
Reading her list of eleven, the potential presidential candidate has certainly declared her belief that the time for her party to dictate to the rest of us from cradle to grave is imminent.
    Her list follows:

    • “We believe that Wall Street needs stronger rules and tougher enforcement, and we’re willing to fight for it.”
    • “We believe in science, and that means that we have a responsibility to protect this Earth.”
    • “We believe that the Internet shouldn’t be rigged to benefit big corporations, and that means real net neutrality.”
    • “We believe that no one should work full-time and still live in poverty, and that means raising the minimum wage.”
    • “We believe that fast-food workers deserve a livable wage, and that means that when they take to the picket line, we are proud to fight alongside them.”
    • “We believe that students are entitled to get an education without being crushed by debt.”
    • “We believe that after a lifetime of work, people are entitled to retire with dignity, and that means protecting Social Security, Medicare, and pensions.”
    • “We believe—I can’t believe I have to say this in 2014—we believe in equal pay for equal work.”
    • “We believe that equal means equal, and that’s true in marriage, it’s true in the workplace, it’s true in all of America.”
    • “We believe that immigration has made this country strong and vibrant, and that means reform.”
    • “And we believe that corporations are not people, that women have a right to their bodies. We will overturn Hobby Lobby and we will fight for it. We will fight for it!”

To those who have the ability to look beyond the redistributive rhetoric, the reality is frightening.
By fighting Wall Street they actually mean the average middle class and lower echelon capitalists, the free enterprise system. The progressives include some of the richest of the rich among their ranks. The elites are not nor will they be on any target list.
Control of our lives through the environment, in keeping with UN Agenda 21 is item number two. They address government-created wage enforcement and unionization as a means of controlling the average obedient worker bee.
The right to government-provided education is declared. It naturally also includes a hefty dose of brainwashing into the liberal cause, forgoing free and independent thought as part of the cost of the “free” education.
Items 8 and 9 profess that equal means equal. Not equal opportunity, but literal equality. They will decide what is equal work, not the market place and they must therefore also decide what is to be the compensation. It is the most basic assumption of the socialist collective and a willing acceptance of the shackles of slavery.
They promote illegal immigration or overwhelming immigration, falsely implying that we aren’t already a world leader in accepting legal foreigners into our midst.
The last bullet point is an attack on religion, using the euphemism of Hobby Lobby for religious freedom.
Warren is dangerous, but she is no more so than any of the other progressive socialist Democrats, including the one now squatting in the White House. She simply is ushering them out of their communist closets.

Elizabeth Warren, Hypocrite, Supports Ex-Im Bank

    Robby Soave|Jul. 18, 2014 3:55 pm
Twp / Wikimedia CommonsMassachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren—a leading progressive populist, possible Democratic presidential candidate, self-proclaimed champion of the poor, and enemy of greedy corporations (not really, as you will see)—supports the Export-Import Bank.
That's right: The woman best known for demonizing big businesses nevertheless wants to maintain an outlandishly generous subsidy package for them.
Warren's support for Ex-Im was revealed Friday after the Heritage Foundation reached out to her regarding a possible partnership on the issue. Libertarians and Tea Party conservatives are noted opponents of the subsidy, which they see as crony capitalism that helps politically-connected businesses cheat the free market. Liberty-inclined Republicans are working with the left on a host of issues, including NSA spying and marijuana legalization—why not make common cause with Warren on corporatism as well?

Looks like the joke is on Heritage. From Bloomberg:
“Senator Warren believes that the Export-Import Bank helps create American jobs and spur economic growth, but recognizes that there is room for improvement in the bank’s operations,” Warren spokesman Lacey Rose tells us in an e-mail. “She looks forward to reviewing re-authorization legislation if and when it is introduced.”
The irony of Warren rejecting an offer from the right to fight Ex-Im together was not lost on The Washington Examiner's Tim Carney:
Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren loves to shoot barbs at Wall Street. She also enjoys forcing taxpayers to absorb Wall Street's risks while the banks pocket the profits.
... At Ex-Im's annual conference, one Wall Streeter described Ex-Im's loan guarantees to me as "free money." Is Elizabeth Warren really fine with free money to Wall Street?
Warren was in Detroit on Friday morning speaking at Netroots Nation 2014, where unaffiliated activists waved signs and led chants urging her to run for president. They even filmed this cringe-inducing music video (you can watch it here, but fair warning: you will beg for death before the end). Here are some of the lyrics:
Americans want our next president to be a woman. Hey babe, here's looking at you Sen. Elizabeth Warren. The planet is warming and the power is shifting.

We need a leader who won't stand for all the corporate bullshit the lobby's grifting.

People think the system is rigged because it is. And it's time that we stand up. We need a leader who won't stand for all the corporate bullies and political phonies.
If they knew Warren supported Ex-Im, would they admit that she is a political phony who absolutely stands for all the corporate bullies? Yeah, I doubt it.
Thankfully, there are some politicians who do stand up to corporate bullies. Check out Reason TV's interview with Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) on his opposition to the Ex-Im Bank.

Video: Elizabeth Warren Asked Loaded Question, Runs Away

    Daniel Doherty | Jul 20, 2014

    Some weekend fun for you.
Asked by Capitol City Project’s Joe Schoffstall on Friday whether or not she had a stated position on Israel's recent foray into Gaza, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) couldn't be reached for comment. Instead, she did exactly what she did two years ago at Netroots Nation when facing tough questions from reporters: she ran away.

In a sense, one might call this the Gov. Chris Christie approach. That is, if you're a politician, never answer loaded questions about sensitive political issues unless you absolutely have to (although, in fairness, Gov. Christie doesn't always follow his own advice).

Nevertheless, better to be pilloried for running away from a question than saying something you might later regret. Right?
UPDATE: Thought you might enjoy this. If this song doesn't brighten your weekend, I don't know what will:

Even the most casual observer of politics knows that Hillary Clinton is the front-runner for the Democrat nomination for the Presidential race. Again. But unlike in 2007, when an unknown and untested junior Senator appeared and stole her spotlight, Hillary supporters are on the attack even without an official statement from Clinton.
One of the most recent Democrat hopefuls to feel the wrath of the spectre of Hillary for President 2016 is Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley. Gov. O'Malley has announced that he is done waiting for the former Secretary of State to officially decide what has been observed to be a de facto campaign for the presidency disguised as a Clinton book tour. He has already started to set speaking dates in bellwether Democrat-leaning States like Massachusetts, California, and Wisconsin.
Yet, outside his home State, Gov. O'Malley may best be know for his comments in 2012. It was September 2nd, and Gov. O'Malley was asked a critical question as the race of the Presidency was heating up. Bob Schieffer, of CBS’ Face the Nation, asked if the nation was better off than 4 years prior. Gov. O'Malley stated, as we quoted at the time,
"No, but that’s not the question of this election. The question, without a doubt, we are not as well off as we were before George Bush brought us the Bush job losses, the Bush recession, the Bush deficits, the series of desert wars — charged for the first time to credit cards, the national credit cards."
Gov. O'Malley would go on to backtrack that statement almost immediately. By Sept. 7th, he was back in line with the pro-Obama gameplan and announced on MSNBC that America was better off. As a side note - on this day in 2008 the number of unemployed was 13.5 million with 80 million not in the laborforce. In 2012 those numbers were 22.8 million & 87.8 million respectively. Today the figures are 18.8 million & 92.2 million. It would seem the right answer was the first one.
Still, Maryland's Governor was undaunted. He has moved forward with plans to run for President, assuming the masses cannot remember his flip-flops from 4 years ago. But the Clinton machine does not forget, and they do not like competition.
That might explain why after criticizing the White House on the illegal alien children crisis (and taking away the thunder of Hillary Clinton), equating deportation of these children to "certain death", there was a leak of a private (at least it was private at the time) conversation between Gov. O'Malley and an annoyed White House Domestic Policy Director Cecilia Muñoz. Confirmed by the White House, Gov. O'Malley stated,
"...not to send any of the children to the facility in Westminster, Md., that the White House was looking at. It’s a conservative part of the state, he warned."
In 2 sentences Gov. O'Malley's chances of becoming President in 2016 have now been damaged. The hypocrisy of trying to appear immigration friendly, as long as it does not affect his State, and an attack on Conservatives (implying they would harm children) is sure to cut at any support he is garnering. While likely recoverable - as Gov. O'Malley will once again flip-flop the public record - the bigger message was sent with full clarity. The White House accepts no criticism and friends of Hillary Clinton will make sure you don't get too far ahead to make a difference. That was the conclusion of CNN

    video at link below

Coincidentally, the leak on O'Malley has come out at the same time that a NBC News/Marist poll of Democrats in Iowa and New Hampshire shows landslide support of Hillary Clinton vs VP Joe Biden. Of course the poll did not consider Gov. O'Malley or even New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, or any other prominent Democrat whispering about a run in 2016.
The fireworks have begun. Hillary Clinton has a lead, and her supporters want to keep it that way.

Already we can tell who they are trying to force down our "collective throats", and this is on both sides of the ticket. I guess we have no say according to them... I guess we only have two side's of the ticket and each is theirs, not ours....Wake up America, we can't let them do this again. Biden, Biden, and Hillary...wake the heck up America..The Rebugnants so far aren't showing anyone better either...Bush and Christie?????

My Response to 'Native American' Elizabeth Warren and her '11 Commandments of Progressivism’

Posted on July 19, 2014 by Gary DeMar
Crazy leftists want Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren to run for president in 2016. She’s described as a “liberal superstar.” Many are dumping Hillary for Warren. It could be the battle of the sexless in 2016. What were the people of Massachusetts thinking? She's not only a plague on Massachusetts, but she's a plague on the nation since she has a vote.
Speaking at Netroots Nation, a convention for liberal bloggers and activists, Elizabeth Warren outlined her “11 Commandments of Progressivism.” My brief commentary follows:

    1. We believe that Wall Street needs stronger rules and tougher enforcement, and we're willing to fight for it.
There is no single entity called Wall Street. What we really need are stronger rules and tougher enforcement on Washington that bails out faltering companies and banks. Washington spends money it does not have. Elected officials like Warren steal from the working class so they can give it to non-workers who will continue to vote to keep politicians like Warren power. There is an unhealthy relationship between government and business that only the free market can fix.
    2. We believe in science, and that means that we have a responsibility to protect this Earth.
Actually, Progressives don’t believe in science or they wouldn’t support same-sex sexuality (the biology and anatomy are all wrong), evolution (something from nothing), and the skewed and manipulated numbers that go into fabricating the crisis of Global Warming, Climate Change, and now Climate Chaos. Furthermore, if Progressives truly believed in science, they would engage critics of Global Warming in debate. Instead, the claim is made that “the debate is over.” Progressives don’t want debate because there’s too much money in a global “crisis” like global warming.
    3. We believe that the Internet shouldn't be rigged to benefit big corporations, and that means real net neutrality.
Governments should keep their hands off the internet. Once any type of control is given, there is no end to it. Progressives will end up controlling the oversight committees that make the laws and turn the internet into a State-run media congolmerate. Those supporting net neutrality tell us that it would not be directed by the government; that it would make the internet more free and open. Don’t you believe it. If a liberal like Elizabeth Warren is behind it, it must be a bad idea for freedom. The internet is doing just fine. Businesses are created every day. The little guy can be up and running in a day. See “Killing Net Neutrality Helps Underdogs Succeed.”
    4. We believe that no one should work full-time and still live in poverty, and that means raising the minimum wage.
Calls for raising the minimum wage are ongoing. Once again, the government should get out of telling companies what they should pay. They are already burdened with paying the employer’s side of Social Security and Medicare and unemployment compensation tax. This says nothing about insurance, rent, upkeep, training, inventory costs, etc. Raising the minimum wage will force some employers to let employees go because of increased costs. The extra work will be passed on to the more experienced retained employees.
    5. We believe that fast-food workers deserve a livable wage, and that means that when they take to the picket line, we are proud to fight alongside them.
Liberal policies already control the marketplace. Who will define a “livable wage”? The government will. There will be no end to what a livable wage might include: a certain size house; so much for food each month; a clothing allowance; paid vacations; transportation; education, birth control, etc. The most inexperienced workers will be shut out because of hiring expenses. The less qualified will find it harder to get a job. Teen unemployment will rise. “[M]inimum-wage legislation discriminates against teenage black males. This has been known by economists since at least the mid-1950s. The statistical evidence on this was overwhelming.” Walter Williams argues: “‘How does someone who is part of a group that is discriminated against find a way to prove to somebody doing the discriminating that his assessment is incorrect?’ It was really this question: ‘How do undesirables break through the discrimination against them?’”
    6. We believe that students are entitled to get an education without being crushed by debt.
Entitled? Should I be forced to pay for the education of other people? No one forced these people to go into debt. No one has to go to college. There is no requirement that a college education has to be completed in four years. No one is forcing anybody to go to expensive schools. The case could be made that government money and cheap educational loans increases the cost of college.

    7. We believe that after a lifetime of work, people are entitled to retire with dignity, and that means protecting Social Security, Medicare, and pensions.
Who will be made to pay for bankrupt pension programs? Should I be forced to pay? Our government enacted legislation that gave us Social Security and Medicare. They have grown in scope far beyond their initial implementation. Medicare is bankrupt. Warren’s solution is more taxes.
    8. We believe — I can't believe I have to say this in 2014 — we believe in equal pay for equal work.
There’s no such thing as “equal work.” All types of factors go into hiring and paying. If employees are not happy with what they are paid, they can (1) start their own business or (2) look for another job. I can’t believe I have to say this in 2014, but it’s no business of the government what an employee is paid.
    9. We believe that equal means equal, and that’s true in marriage, it’s true in the workplace, it's true in all of America.
Warren wants “equality” in everything. Forced equality leads to poverty. Equality before the law is the goal, but not equality in everything. There is no such attainable ideal unless we’re talking about Communism. But even with Communism, some people are more equal than others. There already equality in marriage. No one is stopping two people from getting married as long as they are of different sexes. The law has been equally applied. Changing the definition of marriage by claiming that people of the same sex can marry is not equality; it’s insanity.
    10. We believe that immigration has made this country strong and vibrant, and that means reform.
This is one of her “commandments” that I and millions of others can agree with. The question is, however, what types of “reforms” do Progressives want?
    11. And we believe that corporations are not people, that women have a right to their bodies. We will overturn Hobby Lobby and we will fight for it. We will fight for it!
Try owning and running a corporation without people. Corporations are owned by people, whether it’s one person or a group of people. Corporations are people. When Warren and her liberal thugs want to force their economic agenda on a corporation, who pays? People! Did people from Enron and WorldCom go to jail? Berrnie Ebbers of Worldcom was sentenced to twenty-five years in a federal prison. If corporations aren’t people, then why do they pay taxes, and why is Ebbers in prison?
One of the reasons the “corporations aren’t people” argument keeps coming up is because of the intrusive nature of government. Congress passed and the Supreme Court upheld the passage of the Affordable Care Act. Now the government has direct control over healthcare. As a result, for every question about the Act’s applicability and enforcement, the government must decide.
Warren and her ilk want to control every area of life, even unborn children by allowing women to kill them. They want to empower the State to force companies to pay for abortifacients that kill unborn babies. Women have a right to control their bodies, but they should not have the right to kill an unborn body that is not their body.
As has been reported over and over again, Hobby Lobby did not deny any woman anything. Warren wants power to force companies to pay for healthcare that she wants to define.
More could be said on all these topics. Elizabeth Warren is the new face of the Democrat Party.

I disagree with this rebuttal, the money from these two programs didn't RUN out of money, it was bankrupted because our politicans took the money out of it for other things. Can you say misappropriation of funds???? The money was taken from every working person's pay check (we had no choice in it that matter) for many years. This was supposedly put into a trust fund for us, with their promise of a return with interest, how nice of them!! But and I repeat "BUT" they managed to take it, borrow it, or steal it, now how ever you want to say it is fine, but it came from that "lock box"...Just disappeared. Oh My!!!!!

Now no more bull shi-- on that lie, just put the money back..If you don't believe that one, just ask the "Notch babies" what happened to them?? It was a forced scam on everyone from day 1.

Obamacare will be the same..false promise full of hot air. What is happening to Medicare right now????

"Grown in scope" Really, well if you give it to "people" that haven't paid into it what do you expect...Still stealing aren't they?? Slick smooth talking lying politicians! Only now it is from the next generation our children and grandchildren, If they can get away with it, looks to me like they will if noone speaks up. Difference is now it is in plain site. And somehow it is everyone's fault, because we dare collect what we paid into it. That isn't what they wanted to happen hence Grannie falling off the cliff scenario poor Grannie is now the bad guy becasue she wants what is hers....... Amazingly though their pension isn't lost is it, all fully in tact and it only takes what or 4 years to be vested???

    A Wake yet America????

D’Souza v. Warren: Which America Will We Have?

Written by Rick David on July 21, 2014

A few weeks back I wrote about the D’Souza movie America, Imagine the World Without Her. I came away from that movie proud of the America I was born into which was built by our founders. I came away angry at the Marxists and revisionist historians that have painted a picture of the old America as an evil, oppressive nation. As D’Souza says, these revisionists have an agenda to remake America and their plans require that the idea of the old America be deconstructed. Obama’s promise to “fundamentally transform” America can only be understood from the perspective of this agenda. This week, I saw something that led me to believe that the transformation that these Marxists envisioned has largely been accomplished.

I saw a video of a speech given by Senator Elizabeth Warren at the Netroots convention. Senator Warren (who also is featured in America) is the new darling of the radical left who are beginning to understand that Hillary Clinton has too much negative baggage. Warren gave a speech that any Bolshevik would be proud of, demonizing the rich and Republicans. She appeals to the basest instincts of her hate-filled mob in advancing her class warfare. Her rhetoric lacks even a minute shred of truth or evidence, but that means nothing to her enthusiastic supporters. They are whipped into a frenzied desire for revenge on the rich. Their instrument of revenge will be the government. After observing, I posted this on Face Book:
I predict this woman will be the Dems 2016 POTUS candidate. She will demonize Republicans as rich bankers ripping off the middle class and play the class warfare game. She will probably get the votes of the majority of women, Millenials, blacks, the welfare class (47%), Hispanics, dead voters and the liberal hate America elite. The Republicans will probably nominate a fat cat rich banker RINO like Romney. Who do you think will win? The majority of folks responding to this rightly point out that Warren is a communist and a liar. I would remind you that this was well known when she ran for the Senate, yet did not prevent her from being elected. The same can be said of Obama, who was elected twice, in spite of the facts. I would suggest that most conservatives and godly folk fail to recognize that this country is under the control of a reprobate people and demonic hordes. A majority of voters are motivated by greed and hate and could care less about truth or virtue. They use the corrupt process and the government to steal from their fellow man. The only hope for our nation is a revival and repentance. We must return to faith in Jesus Christ. 2 Chron. 7:14

When I say that the agenda has largely been accomplished, I’m not saying that our country has become a communist country in terms of our governing structure. The transformation is not yet complete in that respect, though plans abound to do so. The transformation has occurred in our culture. The societal changes will make the political transformation more acceptable to the majority.

I think that those of us who hold traditional American values have lost the culture war for the hearts and minds of most Americans. In that respect, we’ve already lost the America portrayed by D’ Souza. It seems that America is now ruled by a reprobate mob of corrupt politicians who appeal to a godless horde. I assert that most Americans are motivated by their own selfish desires and are willing to get theirs at the expense of their fellow man. And they are happy to have the government steal from others to get it.

Most Americans worship a popular culture that deifies free sex and glorifies sodomy. We murder the innocent unborn by the millions. We randomly assault the aged. Our youth are violent and disrespectful. Only a minority value truth, justice, fidelity, industry, responsibility, and compassion.

More than half a century ago we were warned that the Marxists had an agenda to destroy our culture. FBI agent Cleon Skousen’s book The Naked Communist enumerated the goals of the communists. He warned that they planned to use the courts to weaken American institutions, to use the schools and teachers unions to indoctrinate children with communist propaganda, to infiltrate the press and media, to eliminate obscenity laws, promote pornography, to teach sodomy and promiscuity as “normal”, to infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with “social justice” advocacy, to discredit the Constitution, and to discredit the family as a valued institution among other perverse goals.
The communists must have read De Tocqueville because they too understood that American greatness and freedom could be destroyed by corrupting the morals of our people. To a large extent, I think they have succeeded. That this country would twice elect a man such as Obama is the proof. The popularity of Hillary Clinton and Elizabeth Warren is further proof.

As I commented in my Face Book post, the only hope for our nation is a revival of faith in Christ. Neither the Republicans, nor any politician, will save us. I’m not advocating that Christians neglect their civic responsibility by failing to vote. That is a sin. But, don’t expect leadership from the political class. I see no one in that class who is likely to lead us to repentance.

What this country needs is a Moses. The American church has preached the grace and love of Christ, but has neglected to preach the holiness and justice of God. Most Americans spit on Christ’s grace and love. We need a Jonathan Edwards to warn Americans that they stand on the edge of hell.

Co-Operating w/ Saul: Alinsky’s 8 Things That Need to Happen

Written by Larry Usoff on July 21, 2014

How many do you count as having already happened? Be sure to read all the way to the end.

Saul Alinsky, a quick biography… Saul David Alinsky, born January 30, 1909, Chicago , Illinois. Died June 12, 1972 (aged 63), Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, from a heart attack. Educated at University of Chicago, Ph.B.1930, U. of Chicago Graduate School, criminology, 1930-1932. Occupation: Community organizer, writer, political activist and known for Political activism, writing, community organization. Notable work(s): Reveille for Radicals(1946); Rules for Radicals(1971); Awards: Pacem in Terris (Peace On Earth) Award, 1969.
Saul David Alinsky (January 30, 1909 – June 12, 1972) was an American community organizer and writer. He is generally considered to be the founder of modern community organizing. He is often noted for his book Rules for Radicals. He and his third wife (Irene McInnis) were the socialists that Barack Obama has studied and he followed their community organizer philosophy. His book Rules for Radicals is dedicated to Satan.

How to create a socialist state by Saul Alinsky:

There are eight levels of control that must be obtained before you are able to create a socialist state. The first is the most important.

    1) Healthcare–Control healthcare and you control the people
    2) Poverty–Increase the Poverty level as high as possible, poor people are easier to control and will not fight back if you are providing everything for them to live.
    3) Debt–-Increase the debt to an unsustainable level. That way you are able to increase taxes, and this will produce more poverty.
    4) Gun Control–-Remove people’s ability to defend themselves from the Government. That way you are able to create a police state.
    5) Welfare–Take control of every aspect of their lives (Food, Housing, and Income)
    6) Education–Take control of what people read and listen to – take control of what children learn in school. Think: “Common Core”
    7) Religion-–Remove the belief in God from the Government and schools.
Class Warfare-–Divide the people into the wealthy and the poor. This will cause more discontent and it will be easier to take (Tax) the wealthy with the support of the poor.

Any of this sound familiar? Because it is exactly the agenda that the current president is following and, if it continues to the logical ending, the United States will be just a footnote in history – a noble experiment that didn’t last long enough.

The country CAN be turned around, but it will take a person whose loyalty is to the United States, whose background is rooted in The American Experience, and a person who puts the welfare of the country before any partisan debts. There ARE such people still in this country, but character assassination, coupled with investigations to unearth the tiniest bit of information that will hurt that person, make it nearly impossible for people with good intentions to stand for political office.

In my opinion, governance should not be a career because it ceases to be objective and endows the holder of an office with the thought that they are, somehow, better than the people that elected them. That they, because of some falsely-thought-of exalted position, do not have to follow the same laws that the rest of us do. The president has term limits, and rightly so, so why don’t the rest of the federal employees? That would put an end to the elitist class that has emerged over many decades, and which, if allowed to continue, will eventually aid in the downfall of America.

“The death of democracy is not likely to be an assassination from ambush. It will be a slow extinction from apathy, indifference and undernourishment.”–Robert M. Hutchins, former president & chancellor–University of Chicago

There it is, folks. If it was laid out any clearer it would have to be a video. Take a bit of advice about history: you learn from it, or you will repeat it, take your choice.

Senator Elizabeth Warren Speaks Up For Progressivism

July 22, 2014 by Against Crony Capitalism

    SPECIAL

This article by Hunter Lewis was originally published by AgainstCronyCapitalism.org.
Good for her! Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) is letting us know where she stands. There’s no oily evasiveness for her — or at least there’s less than we usually get from politicians.
Here are Warren’s 11 tenets of today’s progressivism, outlined in a July 18 speech before Netroots Nation. Below each tenet are a few questions for her.
    1. “We believe that Wall Street needs stronger rules and tougher enforcement, and we’re willing to fight for it.”
Will you fight to end government bailouts? How will you end them if Wall Street is operated as a subsidiary of Washington? How will you end them if Washington needs big Wall Street firms to buy its bonds with money created by Washington?
The real problem here is that government control, tough or not, is destroying the market’s own internal discipline. Markets aren’t just about profits. They are also about bankruptcy. Wall Street firms must be allowed to fail.
    2. “We believe in science, and that means that we have a responsibility to protect this Earth.”
So progressivism is backed by science and other political philosophies aren’t? People who disagree with you don’t care about the Earth?
    3. “We believe that the Internet shouldn’t be rigged to benefit big corporations, and that means real net neutrality.”
Rigged to benefit big corporations? No. But are you just benefiting some big corporations at the expense of others? What do you mean by “real net neutrality?”
    4. “We believe that no one should work full-time and still live in poverty, and that means raising the minimum wage.”
What if someone can’t get a full-time job, perhaps because of Obamacare? Do they get no help?
And how will an increase in the minimum wage help those who can’t get any job because of the minimum wage? How will this help teenagers or other young people get their first job?
The great progressive President Franklin Roosevelt intervened to keep wages high during the Great Depression. The result was that those who succeeded in keeping their jobs were even better off than before, while millions of others were thrown out of work and had nothing.
    5. “We believe that fast-food workers deserve a livable wage, and that means that when they take to the picket line, we are proud to fight alongside them.”
Hm. How are you “fighting alongside them” other than giving speeches? Are you fighting for the workers or for the unions? And how much money have you received from unions?
    6. “We believe that students are entitled to get an education without being crushed by debt.”
Yes — and then what? Hasn’t the Federal student loan program driven up the cost of a college education, leaving many students worse off than before it existed?
And why is the Federal government borrowing at a low interest rate and then charging the students a much higher rate? How can it be right to make a profit off the students and then apply it to the Federal budget under a line called “deficit reduction.”
    7. “We believe that after a lifetime of work, people are entitled to retire with dignity, and that means protecting Social Security, Medicare and pensions.”
How exactly will we do that? Should we keep borrowing from the Chinese in order to “protect” these programs? What kind of protection is that?
    8. “We believe — I can’t believe I have to say this in 2014 — we believe in equal pay for equal work.”
Are progressives the only people you think believe in this?
    9. “We believe that equal means equal, and that’s true in marriage, it’s true in the workplace, it’s true in all of America.”
Except in Federal programs that discriminate in favor of one group over another? If equal is equal, then why are non-unionized companies barred from Federal construction contracts? Other examples could fill the page.
    10. “We believe that immigration has made this country strong and vibrant, and that means reform.”
It may “mean reform,” but what does “reform” mean? This is evasive.
    11. “And we believe that corporations are not people, that women have a right to their bodies. We will overturn Hobby Lobby and we will fight for it. We will fight for it!”
If corporations are not people, is it OK for the Federal government to gag their speech, tell them what they must say or not say, and otherwise deny them any of the protections offered by the bill of rights?
Having recited what Warren believes to be the 11 tenets of contemporary progressivism, what does she think that conservatives believe? Here it is: “I got mine. The rest of you are on your own.”
But is this what conservatives teach? Is this even what markets teach? Do they teach us to be selfish? Or do they teach us that we had better put our selfishness aside and tend to the needs of customers and employees first if we want to be successful?
People who run businesses are serving the needs of others. And people who work for the government may be just as selfish as anybody else.
Did Warren describe all the tenets of contemporary progressivism? No, she described the ones she wanted to describe. But let’s leave it for now with her 11.
