Teens? or, out of control animals? If they are big enough to do this, they are should be charged as adults, ALL of them. The media is disingenuous when they cover the real issue with the code word "Teen".JMO

A 17-year-old boy has been charged as an adult for his role in beating a 61-year-old alongside a group of approximately 50 other teens in Baltimore, Maryland, on April 22.

Richard Fletcher was brutally beaten by the teens after he went outside to ask two girls who were fighting on top of his truck to move along and continue their dispute elsewhere.

The mob of teens began to hit and kick Fletcher until he fell to the ground, but the attack didn't end.

After the beating last month, Fletcher was left with broken eye sockets, a broken nose, broken ribs and a brain bleed, according to CBS Baltimore.

He also needed a blood transfusion.

Police have made two arrests in the case and are hoping to bring all of the teens, who are believed to be students at Baltimore Community High School, that participated in the beating to justice.

Antoine Lawson has already been charged with attempted murder and a 15-year-old girl was charged with assault.

Joe Lamb, who owns a business nearby, saw the attack and said he wasn't all that surprised with what happened based on how the neighborhood has been, WBAL reported.

Antoine Lawson was charged with attempted murder

He said: 'It has gotten out of hand now, gone too far.

'The kids walk on top of cars, kick dogs, let dogs out, throw trash, steal milk from school and throw it at houses, threaten neighbors with bodily harm.'

Fletcher is out of the hospital and the Harbor View Neighborhood Association has opened a GoFundMe account to raise money for his medical bills.

The association wrote: 'Rick was brutally attacked by approximately 49 students from a near-by school on April 22.
'We are working closely with the family to assist them during this difficult time.

'We estimate his medical bills will be between $200,000-$400,000.

'His medical insurance will not pay for all of the bills.

'At this time, he is out of the hospital but he will need several additional surgeries. Rick has a long road to recovery.
'We do not expect the perpetrators will help him or his family pay for any of the medical expenses.

'Please donate to this very worthy cause , as Rick did not deserve this.'

The campaign has raised more than $8,000.

    Is fatherlessness feeding social unrest?

    Bill Bumpas (OneNewsNow.com)
    Monday, May 11, 2015

According to a marriage and family researcher, fatherlessness and the influence of the media were major factors leading up to the eruption of the Baltimore riots.

Dr. Pat Fagan, who served in the George H.W. Bush administration, is director of the Marriage and Religion Research Institute at the Family Research Council. He says the major media has a lot to answer for regarding Baltimore's social unrest.

"This is an event made by TV," he insists. "The media knows the impact it has, and the media knows how to make a story, and they essentially evoked young black men to protest and gave them the camerawork time after time after time."

Digging deeper into why young black men were prime for this manipulation, Dr. Fagan says it is because of the massive breakdown of the family and self-control. He sums it up with one word: fatherlessness.

"What you have here is a total breakdown of people, who ought to be belonging to each other, not belonging," he laments. "Instead you've got a mess of rejection, of depression, of anxiety, of frustration, and a community that doesn't work."

Using federal data, a report by Fagan's Marriage and Relation Research Institute finds that only 16 percent of 15- to 17-year-olds in Baltimore have been raised by both their married parents. Cleveland, Ohio is the only major U.S. city that has a lower family intactness rate (15 percent).

In a recent column, American Family Association president Tim Wildmon argued that until the issues of absentee fathers and personal responsibility are resolved, similar social unrest will happen in cities like Baltimore -- no matter how much tax money is sent.

I do not think media is being sensitive to fathers in fairness. There was a day, and probably still existent, where in the case of divorce, before a case got to the bench, you had 96% surety that the wife got full custody of the children. This likely had psychological impact upon males to be expectant. Now, you have so many couples with children and not even married. We are a mess.

I suspect many of these kids don't even know who their father is.
