Russia not attacking midterms on same 'scale or scope' as in 2016, Nielsen says

U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen addresses a convention of state secretaries of state on Saturday in Philadelphia. Nielsen told the gathering that there are no signs that Russia is targeting this year's midterm elections on the same "scale or scope" it targeted the 2016 presidential election.
One day after 12 Russian intelligence officers were charged with allegedly hacking emails during the 2016 election, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said there was no indication that the coming midterms were being attacked by Russia in the same way.
Nielsen made the remarks Saturday while addressing a convention in Philadelphia for states' secretaries of state.
While she said there was no suggestion that Russia was aiming to interfere with the 2018 elections on the same “scale or scope” as they allegedly did in the Donald Trump-Hillary Clinton campaign two years ago, she promised government assistance to help state and local election systems safeguard themselves against cyberattacks.
She said U.S. intelligence officials are seeing “persistent Russian efforts using social media, sympathetic spokespeople and other fronts to sow discord and divisiveness amongst the American people, though not necessarily focused on specific politicians or political campaigns.”
Her comments came on the heels of an announcement from the Justice Department about a federal grand jury’s indictment of multiple Russian intel officers. A dozen members of the GRU, the Russian intelligence agency, stand accused of hacking emails from the Clinton campaign and Democratic Party during the 2016 election cycle.
Fox News contributor Allen West, Fox News political contributor Tammy Bruce and Democratic strategist Kevin Walling on how Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein announced that 12 Russian intel officers have been indicted for allegedly hacking the Democratic National Committee. The panel also discussed whether President Trump will discuss the indictments with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The charges prompted some Democrats -- among whom included Sens. Chuck Schumer and Ron Wyden -- to pressure President Trump to cancel his highly anticipated summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin. That summit is to be held in Helsinki on Monday.
GOP Sen. John McCain also offered stern guidance to the president amid the announced indictments. The veteran Arizona lawmaker said Friday that the meeting with Putin shouldn’t proceed unless Trump is willing to hold Russia accountable for political meddling.
“President Trump must be willing to confront #Putin from a position of strength & demonstrate there will be a price to pay for his ongoing aggression. If President Trump is not prepared to hold Putin accountable, the #HelsinkiSummit should not move forward,” McCain tweeted.
Trump has previously pointed to Putin's denials of election interference and has said that he would like the two countries to get along.

You must be a Russian! You defend them as much as you defend President Trump.
Yes I believe the Russians tried to affect the election. I don't think they accomplished much. And that is mostly because authorities, who unlike you were skeptical, exposed them, at least somewhat.
My question is whether Russian propaganda was any worse that liberal propaganda. A lie is a lie no matter who tells it. Our own media is just as guilty of spreading propaganda. We criticized Provda for spreading government lies, yet our own media, for the most part, is just as guilty.
I don't know the truth about anything because I only see what is reported by someone else rather than what I experience with my own two eyes.

This whole thing is a political witch hunt to weaken this Presidency, to create discord in our country, to frame Trump, Flynn, Manafort, Gates, Cohen, Papadopoulos, Page, Caputo, Don Jr., Hicks, two guys in the UK, Stone, etc., interfere with Trump and this Administration improving relations with Russia, North Korea, Syria, and other very important agendas of this President, and try to find SOMETHING, ANYTHING, to submit to Congress for impeachment proceedings to remove this President from office. I don't know how anyone could see it otherwise.
DOJ is so flustered by their inability to impede this President, they've filed a phony indictment against a second set of "Russians", making an announcement of it timed to disrupt the beautiful coverage of Trump's state visit to the UK and his meeting with the Queen of England, and didn't even get the indictment signed by the grand jury foreperson which makes it a totally invalid indictment. So for all we know the grand jury never met and they never voted and never indicted. Every grand jury votes on the indictment document itself and then the foreperson signs and dates it in their pen. This one has the date typed in by the DOJ and no signature.A Nation Without Borders Is Not A Nation - Ronald Reagan

That you are an American doesn't mean that's what you heritage is or your loyalties.
As for the presumption of innocence, that is a legal default. And it is not a standard. It is a starting point in court only. When you are arrested, the presumption is guilt. You are detained until a verdict or you must pay bail for your freedom, which is a presumption of guilt. And we, as individuals, retain the right to make our own judgement as to guilt or innocence. Think of O.J. Simpson. He was legally found not guilty, but many believe him to be guilty.
As I said "I believe the Russians tried to affect the election." I also believe Provda provided falsified news. But I don't have personal knowledge of either.
